I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Hola people! Welcome to my page. My friends asked me to make a website so here I go. I'm Francisco J "Franky" Castellanos I was born in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico and I have lived in Miami for most of my life, you can say that I grew up in both places. I come from a long line of dancers and musicians in my family. I started playing bongos at the age of seven self taught but had school training. I studied music through out my chilhood and teen years and I haven't stop learning since. In 1979 as a young teenager I met Piano and guitar virtuoso Adalberto Bravo and joined my first salsa band "The Bravo Brothers" playing what I do best (bongos) and doing vocals, learning the fundamentals and what it became my first major music school, man I miss those days! Later on in Miami I joined The Omar Cardenas Latin Jazz Orchestra, The Neyda Revuelta's Guateque Campesino Band, Neyda Revuelta is the Queen of Cuban Country Music and still has her radio show going strong for over 40 years now. After discharge from The ARMY I was playing freelance in a few bands in Miami. I'm proud to say that I was trained hand on hand for many years on congas and bongos under the watchful & strict eye of My (Guru) recording artist Richard Bravo , my friend and brother who I consider one of the greatest percussionist on the planet. After giving me F's on all classes, one day he told me youre ready uufff! he is a perfectionist! I was a member of La Casa del Joven Music Ministries Homestead branch and La Catedral del Pueblo Ministry Band here in Miami. I have recorded several TV and radio jingles in Tampa and Miami. Have recorded & performed on stage with Berkeley's "Rumbon", Reynier, Chino Santos, Orlando's own "Orquesta Identidad" ,Cuero Productions, Charlie K. Santiago,Master Bassist Jerry Bravo, Ed Calle , Salvador Cuevas , Tito Rivera, Marxel Esquilin, Mario Ortiz JR, Blues singer and guitar player Dave Morgan , "Red Level" Band" "The Category 5 Band" "La Familia" percussion group wich participated in the first Puertorican Parade of South Florida aboard the USPS float obtaining first place, & many other fantastic musicians that I keep in my heart. I recorded my first recording project "Mi Saludo" Salsa latin Gospel in 1994. My greatest musical experience was playing bongos for the late great puertorican cuatro player Masso Rivera in Miami. I'm so greatful to all the musical directors and musicians that have trusted me and given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and grow as a musician. Thank you for all the love & support. Pop, Classic Rock, Ragaae, Country, Soul & Funk are my specialties on hand drumming & minor percussion. Currently I'm composing and giving private percussion lessons. For resume or recent projects contact me. Thank you.
