JACOB HATHOLT BIOJacob Hatholt is a Danish musician, a professional percussionist, born in
1982 and presently living near Copenhagen. He comes from a musical family.
His father and two brothers are all professional musicians.Jacobs musical career started in 1990 when, eight years old, he began
playing with other young musicians in a band called Spirerne. The band
played throughout Denmark and made about 30 appearances on Danish
television. Having always had a strong interest in playing jazz, Jacob began
working with a big band in the city of Helsingor in 1991. From there, and on
meeting pianist Poul Reiman and bassist Thomas fonnesbech in 1992, he really
began gaining valuable experience on the professional scene. In that year
they organized the trio Flair Dance performing a jazz repertoire
especially emphasizing the music of pianist Michel Camilo. The trio achieved
popular success with a busy performance schedule and, as a result of their
demo CD, were booked by Radio Denmark together with Michel Camilo, Anthony
Jackson, and Dave Weckl for a live broadcast from Copenhagen Jazzhouse a
leading Scandinavian jazz venue, the show unfortunately never became a reality:-(As a result of intensive work on his own musical development helped by
numerous performance opportunities, Jacob won first prize (gold) in the jazz music
competition sponsored by Berlingske Tidende, a leading Copenhagen newpaper.
He was 15 years old at the time and the competition was organized to present
international young musicians under the age of 25. Danish television
followed up with a portrait production and Jacob began new associations with
a broad range of musicians like Matt Harris, Lars Janson, and Ole Kock
Hansin and in a diversity of styles: pop, rock, jazz, funk, R&b, Latin, Latin jazz and
he has worked exclusively in such professional activities since 1997. Jacob has received lessons from drummers like: Russ Miller-Joey Heredia-Niclas Campagnol-Kenwood Denard-Steen Hatholt-Alex Riel etc.Jacob did military service as a member of the Royal Danish Navy drum corps
from 2001-2002 . Also at this time, in Freiburg, Germany, Jacob successfully
auditioned for and was awarded a scholarship at Berklee College of Music in
