1995 – In Solitude are formed by Sérgio Martins (vocals), Lisa Amaral (keyboards), Augusto Peixoto (drums), Eduardo Borges (bass) and Tiago Sousa (guitars), gathering in a small rehearsing room for the first time. The first compositions may be called a mix of doom, death and classic heavy metal.
1996 – In Solitude release the promo-track “Children Of The Dark” a music that as of 2007 remains as one of the band’s favourites in live performances. Also in this year, the band plays several concerts building up a reputation in Porto’s underground music scene.
1997 – The demo tape “Reflections” is released and extensively promoted in live presentations, earning In solitude a record deal with Independent Records to put out their first album.
1998 – The debut album recorded at Rec’n’roll studios and produced by Luis Barros (Tarantula) is released. Entitled “Eternal”, the album was very well received by critics and public. In this year In Solitude is acclaimed as “Portuguese Newcomer of the Year” and their promotional tour took almost a year, playing in every corner of Portugal.
1999 – Tiago Sousa leaves the band and is replaced by Paulo Camisa. Still promoting “Eternal”, In solitude play several shows with bands as Stratovarius and Tarantula.
2000 – In Solitude Go Back to Rec’n’roll again with producer Luis Barros to record the conceptual album “Opus: Universe”. The album is released in October – their first one with Recital Records – and in its promotional tour In Solitude shared the stage with bands as Metalium, Oratory and Sacred Sin, playing in Portugal and Spain.
2001 & 2002 – This period is marked by line up changes and the writing of new songs. During 2001 Augusto Peixoto and Eduardo Borges leave and are replaced by Hugo Moreira and Rogério Campos. With a totally renewed rhythm section, In Solitude write new material for the third album but still manage to record the cover version of “Falling World” for the Tarantula tribute released in 2001 and to play with bands such as Blaze.
2003 – Rogério Campos leaves and is replaced by Eduardo Neves in the bass. The band enters Echosystem studios to record their masterpiece “Nethergod”, a stronger album that will set a heavier path in the bands career.
2004 & 2005 – “Nethergod”, In Solitude’s third effort is released. Recorded by Rui Santos (Oratory) and mixed by Mário Pereira / Rui Santos, “Nethergod” was critically acclaimed in Portugal and International press. The “Nethergod Tour” followed the release and In Solitude played more than twenty live dates sharing the stage with bands like Epica, Skyclad, Oratory and Ramp.
2006 – Once again and for the third time In Solitude is forced to change the rhythm section, Eduardo Neves leaves and Rogério Campos gets back in the bass. In the drums, Hugo Moreira also leaves the band and was not replaced yet. Nevertheless, In Solitude start the writing of the next album.
