The beginning of the nineties discovered an intense movement on Portuguese metal.
Lots of bands were struggling on the underworld and some of them got their break.
From the thrash-punk sound of their tracks to their furious gigs full of energy made Crackdown soon started being talked as one of the new promises. Lots of gigs and two demo-tapes "Against the Rules" – 1996 and "Blame" – 1997, gave them the recognition of the press, radios and public.
"Blame" was even considered the best metal demo-tape of the year in a major contest voted by some of the most important music media specialists. Some of their songs were picked for sampler’s cds.

*Promúsica n.º 9, 21 and 39 (Portuguese magazine),
*Cais do Rock Vol. 3 (Portuguese’s Lowfly Records) were just some of them.
The debut album "Purge" was released in 1999, under the name of Str@in and had excellent reviews of magazines, zines and radio-shows.
With more power than ever, the new material exceeds all the metal limits.
The crossover sound, from metal to alternative rock, hard-core, electronic and hip-hop made them opened for Extreme Noise Terror, Ratos de Porão, Tarantula, Ramp and played at important Portuguese Festivals like Paredes de Coura, Cais do Rock, Penafiel Special Open Air, Feira do Metal de Almada, Metal Xmas Festival and in charismatic places such as Coliseu do Porto, Hard Club and more.
But the band didn’t resist to the internal and personal conflicts and split apart.
After some years playing in alternatives projects of rock music, the metal roots spoke louder! In 2007 Ary, Alexandre and Raul reunited for their most ambitious challenge ever: EXTREME MUSIC FOR EXTREME PEOPLE!!!

In the first rehearsal wrote "Dream Murder Song" and "No Further Questions".
Two songs that accused the raw sound of the band, mixing elements of old school Thrash Metal and New York Hard Core.
Back to the crime scene, these three-piece promises revolutionize the Portuguese metal scene and burn the stages all over.
ASSASSINNER’s first appearance was in May 2007, at Vieira do Minho.
The chaos and destruction of their live act infected all the presents and everyone acclaimed the band’s concert as the best performance of the festival.
In July 2007, the lack of time of Raul, stirred by their professional duties, dictate his discharge from the project and his temporarily replacement by Carlos Filipe (ex-Slavery Cicle) which personality, nerve and skills shoots renewal energy to the band.
The return of the warrior happened in May 2008. Raulzão was, is and will always be the perfect weapon for this lethal war machine.
And that is how it should be!!!
