GroundSoul are a metal band based in dark recesses of the Northeast of England and play their very own brand of high energy screaming metal, twisted with a unique local accent of pain, deprivation and frustration that is worthy of more than one listen. With influences from most aspects of all metal genres GroundSoul have roared their way onto the North-East music scene with determination, piss and vinegar, a heady mix of grinding rhythms and deep roaring vocals, which will send shockwaves down your spine. The idea of GroundSoul was conceived dark depths of winter 2002 by two mates Steve Ellis (guitar) and Steve Taylor (bass) who had left their previous band to pursue the deeper, darker and much heavier sub-cultures of MetalThey immediately started flexing their artistic muscle and so began writing and bouncing ideas off each other, soon after a blueprint of a band was drafted, friends Graeme Allen (guitar) and Craig Beattie (drums) were recruited and rehearsing began. However the band was still lacking a singer of suitable calibre and one fateful day Graeme Allen and Steven Taylor met Graham Cox. The most unlikely source for a deep grinding lyrical metal monger you would be likely to meet. Graham is at best 8 stone “if wet throughâ€, however can roar as good as any of the biggest and badest on the metal scene todayGraham had been singing in a cover band, but was looking for something new and all way going well with GroundSoul soon kicking off their gigging. But as with many things growing pains were inevitable and it was soon apparent to Craig that personal pressures were making things difficult. However he stayed with the band until a replacement drummer in the form of Andrew Ellis an excellent and talented drummer hit the ground running and GroundSoul hit the gigging circuit with ‘gusto’.Two demos and many gigs later saw the departure of bassist Steven Taylor, the band replaced him with the fingers of Graham Cox now singer and playing the bass. This resulted in the recording and video of ‘Inside’, more gigs passed and as the bands popularity and music progressed. With the departure of Guitarist Greame Allen the band was left in a hole, so the search began for a new bass player which came in the hands of Richi from a former band we gigged with, and the part of guitar was played by Dave from the same band. So a few new songs and a hand full of gigs saw the departure of both Dave and Richi which have moved on to persue other things Dave has moved back to his roots and Richi has persued his dream of being in a scene band so the seaech begins again....We did not wait long and the position of guitarist was filled with the person we wanted to play originally Dave White from another local band (ENGINE). With the set well underway and all the songs up to scratch we were still left without a bass player, after posting an add a local bassist Ant got in touch and has been rehearsing with us for a month now and all is going well but only time will tell.! new gigs and music on the way to you.
id also like to thank the people who has been in the band and wish them the very best..Watch out GroundSoul shockwave is spreading……………
