About Me

Afterrabbit are an occassional band centred around the rantings of crazed yet strangely sensitive poet John Bently. First conceived in 2003,and usually containing Alan and Phil Outram plus Ollie Briggs and some others, the band play live a few times every year, the gigs usually coinciding with the launch of one of Bently’s infamous and bloody mindedly hand made publications. These are published under the collective heading of Liver and Lights...so far there have been 38 volumes in 23 years, stuffed with illustrations in editions of about 200. People seem to collect them! all over the world! The last four have contained Afterrabbit recordings! I suppose what makes us different is that we don’t start out trying to make music but consider the band to be an extension of the books, in that first comes the story, which is illustrated by the book and then we try to find a way to illustrate the story using music, so sometimes the results are a bit strange. Every time we’ve played together we’ve sounded completely different....long may it continue. We do this by hand, we take risks and what will we do next?...watch this space! MyGen Profile Generator

I wish I could go back some time and put my arms around you, dispel the scent of lonliness that wrapped you up, that wrapped you up and bound you.....Rodway was a kid I knew at school, the kid who was the bottom of the class- he had stiff hair like matting straw and a blazer that hung limp and ragged about his plump and bitten fingers. He had trousers that were much to short and socks that were much too long and everywhere he sat he left a smell of stale biscuits that lingered long after he'd gone....
