Ever since I can remember, music, especially country music, has always been a passion of mine. I grew up watching every episode of Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters, and never missed an opportunity to watch the CMT Awards shows, or any other country music concerts, interviews, or TV specials. I guess you could say "I was country, when country wasn't cool".
With all of this, I have also had a growing interest in becoming a commercial songwriter. Having once had an unpursued dream of becoming an artist, this has changed into a realization that I would really rather be the person "behind" the scenes that still gets the opportunity to sing, play, and create music.
For the past 25 years, I have had an interest in writing songs and actually started writing when I was in the 5th grade. However, I have never pursued this craft seriously until June of 2006. Now, at thirty-something, but with no children, four dogs and a wonderful and talented boyfriend (a Celtic Artist/Musician), I have finally decided to go for it with hopes of writing at least one hit song by the time I turn 40.
So here I am. I'm only in the beginning stages of this journey, but every step of the way reminds me that I am truly passionate about this.
My wish is for everyone to discover their passions and to pursue them with full force. Life here on Earth is too short, so get started now and go for it!
