Hello everyone... Welcome to my page!
Link to my page.
My name is Alexia Mercedes Van Horn. I am a 21 year old singer from Carroll County, Maryland with dreams of one day seeing my name in the “Big Lightsâ€. My passion for music began as a toddler singing along to my favorite Disney movies. With the encouragement and support of my family, I continued singing throughout my childhood.
Throughout high school I was a member of D& J’s Dynamite Dance Company, where I competed in regional/national dance and vocal competitions such as Star Power and Show Stoppers, holding a number of first place titles. I also performed locally at carnivals, weddings, talent competitions, and sporting events.
After graduation, I continued pursuing my education at Towson University, where I will receive a degree in Mass Communications with concentrations in Advertising and Public Relations as well as a minor in Marketing. In my sophomore year of college, I traveled to Alabama to audition for the hit reality TV show, American Idol. With much excitement, I advanced to the Hollywood portion of the show.
After winning a singing competition hosted by 93.1 WPOC in 2007, I was chosen to open at Merriweather Post Pavilion’s annual Sunday in the Country concert where I performed the National Anthem for thousands of country music fans. I opened for artists Sara Evans, Phil Vassar, Trace Adkins, Jake Owen, Mark Wills and Terri Clark.
My love and appreciation for country music has driven me to pursue a singing career in Nashville, Tennessee. I spent this past summer in Nashville recording new material and completed two internships with RPM and Blacktop Music Group on Nashville’s very own “Music Rowâ€.
I'll continue singing locally while finishing out my senior year at Towson University before making my big moving to Nashville to pursue my dream!
Thank you so much for stopping by and for all your support.
