We are Georgia songwriters Justin Owens and Jody Hall. I am Justin and I have been writing song lyrics since around the age of 11 or 12. Honestly, as far back as I can remember, it has been my creative outlet. Growing up in the 80’s, I remember loving all the songs written by Dianne Warren, Desmond Child, Dolly Parton, Bernie Taupin, Willie Nelson, Jim Steinman, Michael Stipe, Bruce Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Carole King, and so many others back in the day. Usually the first thing I want to know about a song is who wrote it. I have always been fascinated with songwriters and writing myself. I attending UGA from ’94-’98 and that’s where I met my 3 favorite co-writers: Jody Hall, Lorrie Anne Matthews, and Tony Baselici. We have been writing together for several years now and it is so much fun to watch the whole process evolve into an actual song. We never know when our next big song idea is going to hit us. We had our first song engineered and recorded by David Leonard in late 2006. Last year, we produced about 7 more demos in the studio with David- including my favorite, “Your World.†This song will always hold a special place in my heart because I wrote it so many years ago and Lorrie found it in an old notebook I had kept over the years. Once we played around with the lyrics and she came up with a beautiful melody, it was magic! I feel like we all truly bring out the best in one another. All the feedback has been amazing and we so value all of our friends, fans and fellow songwriters who give us support, opinions, and advice. It has truly been a wonderful experience and we hope to keep bringing more and more original songs to you in 2008. Thanks for your time and please come back often!
