About Me

NEW KAIPA ALBUM OUT IN MAY 2007.
“Angling Feelings” is Kaipa’s ninth studio album and the first with new guitar player Per Nilsson. Kaipa’s mastermind and keyboard player Hans Lundin and Per are old friends and worked together recording the album “Hagen: Corridors of time” in the late 90’s. Per is nowadays mostly famous as the lead guitar player in Swedish metal band Scar Symmetry. The new album is a breathtaking, innovative and emotional adventure. Kaipa’s music has an unmistakable and own identity and forms a rich texture with musical influences from traditional Swedish folk music, fusion and rock.
"Angling Feelings" is a very tight, modern sounding masterpiece with all the elements of light, shade, complexity and melody more than apparent and moreover, in abundance.

The album is a joyful and spiritual experience, packed with everything from poetic beauty to mindboggling instrumental extravaganza. It offers some of the grooviest and most successful 7/8 time signatures ever made in "The Fleeting Existence Of Time" and breathtaking beauty in "Path Of Humbleness," which must be among the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.
"Angling Feelings" is Kaipa at their best and probably their best effort this decade. Sound, production, melody, harmony, groove, and everything you could possibly measure music by is simply spot on. It is a gift and a magic hug to all fans of music with a Progressive approach.

KAIPA is a musical project formed by keyboard player Hans Lundin. It also includes Per Nilsson, guitar (Scar Symmetry), Jonas Reingold, bass (Flower Kings/Karmakanic/Tangent), Morgan Ågren, drums (Mats & Morgan/Zappa), Patrik Lundström, vocal (Ritual) & Aleena Gibson, vocal. Surrounded by these extremely talented musicians Hans is able to give his melodic and complex songs a performance showing a vital, unique and personal sound.
Hans Lundin originally formed Kaipa in 1973 and their debut album was released in 1975. The first version of Kaipa (1973-1982) recorded five albums and became the leading Scandinavian progressive rock band. In 2000 Hans reformed the band and invited original Kaipa guitar player Roine Stolt to participate in the recording of the come back album “Notes from the past” together with Morgan Ågren, Jonas Reingold, Patrik Lundström and Aleena Gibson. This line-up recorded two more remarkable albums “Keyholder” 2003 and “Mindrevolutions” 2005. A five CD-Box “The Decca Years 1975-1978” containing remastered versions of the three first Kaipa albums from the 70’s and two CD’s with previous unreleased material was released in 2005 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first Kaipa album.
With their new album Kaipa definitely proves that they are one of the leading outfits in today’s world of innovative and progressive music. They are not afraid of plunging into new areas while they still carry their glorious traditions with pride into a new era.

Sounds Like:

With superb musicianship, charming vocal harmonies and imaginative song craftwork, Kaipa has successfully incorporated sounds both old and new, building a bridge between the ‘70s and the ‘00s. Enchanting and electrifying, "Angling Feelings" represents both the overwhelming potential and the very best aspects of contemporary progressive rock.

Trademark of quality

The musical scope of what can only be described as a stirring symphonic masterpiece is quite extraordinary, blending the classic influences of YES with an identity and direction all of their own. Highly recommended.

Classic Rock

Expect the unexpected. Expect brilliant vocal harmonies and a catchy groove to just appear out of seemingly nowhere. Expect for the guitar solos to lift you and take you through both time and space. Expect for time to stand still as you gaze in wonder at all the amazing colors and imagery that is painted across your mind. Expect to hear something you haven't heard before. Expect to know that Kaipa is pure uninhibited progressive prowess at its peak. Expect to love this album as much as you loved the last one. They continue to amaze me and everyone else, even after 30 years.

Espudd

The music of Kaipa is (still) not easy to describe, as it contains many different styles and angles. Prog rock, folk, jazz rock, improvisation, everything is in it. But the compositions are from an exceptionally high level, making the album solid as a rock. Kaipa is a band with a mind of it's own, with as yet an unusual sound, where it can rightly be said it is a top notch band, that most certainly let's the listener enjoy some pretty virtuoso music!

Prog-nose

Overflows with creativity, pinwheeling from calliope keyboards one minute to melodies so painstakingly executed, one senses the musicians straddle a trapeze that could fail at any second. It never does. The familiar melts into something new, something Kaipa. Just how the cascading melodies, left -field time changes and lithe vocals cohere is a mystery. Yet the disparate elements somehow connect. The music isn't so much catchy as it is fascinating, akin to exploring a carnival with different adventures around every corner.

Electricbasement

The music on this CD is so achingly beautiful and such a fulfilling experience you come away after listening in a better frame of mind then before. The song’s on the CD are paintings created with sound brushes, the rich textures and vibes that are present will delight your senses and refresh your well-being if you allow the music to work it’s spell.
