About Me

Welcome everyone!

I'm quite an emotional person, I have strong feelings about everything that I live through and I like to show my enthusiasm when I feel enthusiastic or share my sadness when I feel sad. The problem is people sometimes get tired of that.

Music is one of the most important things to me, but I'm not an orthodox progressive rock fan. It doesn't matter to me how complicated and progressive the music is, the thing that really matters is the feeling and the emotions I get from the music. Progressive rock / metal just happens to be the most emotional style I've been confronted with, but lately, I've also fallen in love with lots of non-prog music, such as gothic metal, ambient, alternative etc.

Visit my website dedicated mainly but not only to prog music:

The website also includes a gallery of pictures from concerts I or my friends have been to .

My Interests

Apart from music, which is my main interest, I like travelling, trips and long walks through the countryside or around a city. I love going by train and am fascinated with underground railways. Other interests include attempts to write fantasy stories, computers (creating websites) and mathematics.

I'd like to meet:

Music:

Mainly progressive rock & metal (The Flower Kings, Opeth, Pain of Salvation, Pendragon, Marillion, Ayreon, Porcupine Tree etc.), but I also like other music styles (ambient, gothic, alternative...).

Movies:

My favourite movies:

Lost in Translation Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Fountain

I try to keep touch with what is happening in the world of movies and often go to cinema to see new films, however, I don't always have the time or money for that. I'm interested in lots of different genres, but I rarely find action films or crazy/teenager comedies interesting. However, I'm not ashamed to like a good blockbuster or a romantic comedy. I can easily get moved to tears by a movie (the two above mentioned faves of mine make me cry almost every time :) )

Books:

I used to be a big science fiction & fantasy fan and even though I'm not such a big SF&F reader anymore, the occasional book I read still usually falls into that genre. The books that made a big impact on me include Douglas Adams' "Hitch-hikers' Guide to the Galaxy" & "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency", J.R.R.Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings", Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" series, Ray Aldridge's "Emancipator" trilogy & Christopher Priest's "Inverted World".

Heroes:

A hero to me could well be any of the great musicians who follow their dreams and make the (unfashionable) music they love for the living. Steven Wilson, Roine Stolt, Arjen Anthony Lucassen etc...
