About Me

Hi!
Welcome to "my space".
My name is Francisco J Rodríguez. I've been playing keyboards in several projects with different styles since the early 90's.
I am always looking for a singer to play AOR/Melodic Rock... send me a message if you like to form a duo playing old and new nice music from Heart, Amanda Marshall, Journey, Toto... NEXX... :-) and you are living around Rhode Island.
I can record keyboards for your album! I have my own studio where I can record the keyboard tracks for your mix. I'd love to do that if you have a good band but are missing some keys... AOR/Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, Pop... And of course new age, celtic, soundtrack stuff... Forget about money, business and stuff... this is all about MUSIC!
From 1992 to 1997, more or less, I played in Still Here, a pop-rock band with progressive touches (Que viva el pop sinfónico!), with David de Bustamante (keys and vocals), David Parra (guitar and bass), Luis M. Sánchez (lead guitar) and Diana Pano (vocals). It was fun, caothic and very exciting as any first band can be.
Then I played in several failed projects until late 99. My friend Bernardo Llobregat (guitar) asked me to play in the brand new AOR/Hard Rock band he was building with Jose A. de la Banda (bass) and Oscar Pérez (drums).... one year later we found our singer, Patricia Tapia. This was the beginning of NEXX. I also have to name here Jose Herrera, the guy behind the band. Nothing would have been like it was without him. We love you Jose!!! :-)
We recorded 2 albums with NEXX: "Colours" (2003) and "Another Dawn" (2006). Great time playing in many cities in Spain and in England too! To name a few special shows, we played in the Gods of AOR festival 2001 (Wigan, UK) and 2003 (Bradford, UK), Firefest 2 party (Nottingham, UK) and Nemelrock 1, 2, 3 (Madrid, Spain). In these festivals we were lucky to share stage with bands like Harem Scarem, Urban Tale, House of Shakira, Dare, Jorn, Bob Catley, Terry Brock, Talisman and many more!. We toured with Jeff Scot Soto in Spain, we opened for bands like TNT, Firehouse, House of Shakira, Danny Vaughn, Elyte, Mitch Malloy... well, very busy and very nice times. More info about NEXX in this two links: webnexx.com and NEXX in myspace .
At the same time I was playing in these bands, I kept on doing my other musical passion: I wrote, played and produced soundtracks and music for TV. I was lucky to work with ...dijo el monje (specially with Gabriel González, dhijo) in three of their short films: Primario, Amamanta and Elgiroeneleje. Great infographic art. Don't miss it if you have a chance. That stuff was projected in festivals like Art Futura, CiberArt, Sonar, Actual, among many others.
I was lucky as well to work with Nacho Benítez in two of his short films too: "El Bebe se hace mayor" and "Me aguanto", these ones with a great cast. Nacho has a lot of talent and we'll see him directing long films soon, I'm sure of that.
For TV some of my compositions were played in Antena 3TV and Tele5, both national channels in Spain.
There were many small, but nice, other projects. I'll tell you other day.
Now i'm playing in a duo called Eala Dubh , where celtic, goth and folk meet, with singer Dawn Alicia. We're based in New England (USA).
Also Canadian guitarist Martin Marshall and me have formed the project A distant rendez-vous , where we both can experiment and create in complete freedom. Check it out!
Ah, and I'm working as an engineer in Kurzweil Music Systems , probably the best keyboard brand in the whole world!
Check out a demo of the Kurzweil PC3, the keyboard I have been working in for the last 2 years, by the great Geoff Gee!

This is a poem that my friend Isabel (you see her in MyFriends) has written inspired by the music of elgiroeneleje. Now she is the one that inspires all of us. She has just published her first book btw. Thank you Isabel!!!
" La creación de la noche,
muerde el hilo de acero,
miradas que se rasgan,
en los ecos lunares,
el viento danza con los árboles
vestidos de madera y escarcha.
En la soledad nocturna,
se desliza la cera liquida,
ahumando la luz de una vela
que hierve el alma.
Noches de hilo y sudor,
de agua y fuegoi.
arrancaría mil veces
los sueños del abismo
para acercarme al huracan
de tu perfume.
Espectro plateado que vigilas
mis noches desde el cielo,
un viento verde y helado,
me abraza,
y caigo, entre las hojas del otoño"
