About Me

Hey, Cuz, my name's Eddie Longo and I'm an enthusiastic eater. The wife calls me a fanatic eater sometimes. I used to do regular restaurant reviews when I lived out west in Seattle and Southern California. Back then folks called me their personal guide to the ultimate, fool-proof eatin' out experience. Now I'm what you'd call semi-retired, but only semi-retired from the restaurant review biz.
See, bein' the only cartoon character doin' restaurant reviews was kinda mind-blowin', if yinz know what I mean. Back in those days it was sorta lonely at the top. I was makin' regular appearances on Seattle Talk Radio, there was that TV coverage of my strip, the appearance on NPR's late night radio show HEAT, articles bein' written about me left an' right. I was even a sometime food judge for the Seattle BUMBERSHOOT summer festival. Geez, it was gettin' so I almost needed some kind of P.R. guy. THEN where would I be, huh?
But don't think I've been sittin' on my keester takin' it easy all these years! No way. I been out there findin' all kinda swell stuff to tell you about. Sure, you can still count on me to check out chicken fried steaks in all those outta the way burgs, and I haven't given up on bar-b-q, hot dogs or homebaked pie, but I'll be tellin' yinz about all the other stuff I come across while I'm puttin' on the ol' feedbag. Stay tuned. It might take me a little while to figure out this MySpace internet thing, but I'm not too old to learn a thing or two. Soon as I can we'll be pickin' up on the Eddie Longo Method once again.

My Interests

Diners and cafes, hot dog joints, Googie signage, bowling alleys with a theme, Tiki clubs, roadside attractions, carnival sideshows, go-cart tracks, amusement parks, demolition derbies, summer fair circuits, food festivals. Well, food, of course. But nothin' too fancy schmancy. I dig all sorts of deli sangwiches...and burgers, cheese steaks, hot dogs, brats, hot links..yeah most kinds of meat and bread combinations work for me.

PERFECT BBQ BRISKET
Bar-B-Q, barbeque, BBQ...however you spell it. If it's slow-cooked meat with a tangy sauce count me in. Texas style, Southern style, ANY style of BBQ usually works for me. I have my favorites and I'll share them with you. I like hotcakes, flapjacks, pancakes and waffles. Chorizo omlettes, tacos, FISH tacos and burritos...in fact, most kinds of ethnic food get my juices goin'...especially spicey, hot foods.

I'd like to meet:

Calvin Trillin, Jane & Michael Stern, A.J. Liebling, M.F.K. Fisher, the Koutsky sisters, Ed Levine, Lynne Rosseto Kasper, Rachel Ray...maybe Anthony Bourdain.
