My ancestors.
Whatever is inspiring to what I’m painting at the moment and quite often it’s Tom Waits, but also David Bowie, Brian Eno, DEVO, The Residents, Arcade Fire, Combustible Edison, and Morphine.
I love crazy, weird circus type music too. There’s a sound track that Ry Cooder did for an episode of “Tales From the Crypt†called “The Executionerâ€. If anyone knows where I can find it….
I also listen to mixed cd’s that Rod Filbrandt puts together for me.
When it comes to drinks though, the Stones are usually playing in the background.
Night of the Iguana, The Thin Man, I Am Cuba, Mystery Train, Taxi Driver, Creepshow, The Ninth Configuration, Seven Year Itch, Night of the Living Dead, Sid and Nancy, The Misfits, The Exorcist, Hope and Glory, To Kill a Mockingbird, Alien, The Party, Ghost World, Carnival of Souls, Tales From the Crypt.
I know I'm forgetting a lot...
Quincy M.E.!!! The Night Gallery, The Twilight Zone, TCM, Little Britain, Absolutely Fabulous, History shows like "What the Victorians Did For Us", and anything I can find on hauntings -even the silly shows.
I love books, old mechanical diagrams, anatomy, victorian photography, crime scenes, vintage illustration, ironwork, science, religion and on and on...
But when it comes to books with WORDS, I always fall for ghost stories, time travel, and weird tales
All time favourites: Jitterbug Perfume, The Stand, Picture of Dorian Grey, and more recently, Will Storr versus The Supernatural
