Band Members: Jeannie Allen (Earthgirl)
Influences: Earthgirl sounds come from life on our planet and dreams of time and space. A car driving by late at night, far away thunder, the tapping of rain and the swirling of stars.
Inspiration comes from the sounds of life plus the echoes of the memories of far away songs. At any given time I could be listening to Stereolab, Ladytron, Flying Saucer Attack, Le Tigre, The Clash, Yaz, Tangerine Dream, Portishead, Lou Reed, Syd Barrett, The Police, The Black Angels, Ulrich Schnauss, Amp, Analog Missionary, Moby, Brian Eno, ELO, Feist, Annie Lennox, Erasure, Opal, Aimee Mann, The Silver Apples, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Daniel Johnston, Brian Wilson, General Public, Beck, Bjork, Frazier Chorus, OMD, Air, The Kinks, Hearts of Black Science, David Bowie, The Velvet Underground, Le Tigre, The Smiths, Morrisey, Patsy Cline, Smokey Robinson, Rufus Wainwright, The Cowboy Junkies, The Beatles, Squeeze, Pink Floyd, Pulp, Blur, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Yo La Tengo, Medeski Martin & Wood. Plus many more bands and musicians you see here; check out my friends for more music I love.
Films of influence are An Inconvenient Truth, Children of Men, 1 Giant Leap, Meet Your Meat, Baraka, What the Bleep, Iron Jawed Angels, Dark Days, THX 1138, The Girl in the Cafe, Good Night and Good Luck, Theremin, Eraserhead, Zwartboek (Black Book), The Lives of Others, V for Vendetta and Ikiru.
I'm grateful for the writings of Kundera, Nabokov, Vonnegut, Orwell, Asimov, Bova, Emerson, Thoreau, Rumi and Shaw. Thanks to Douglas Adams for the laughs.
