About Me

Hi everyone!
I've been writing romantic comedy novels for the last eleven years (where did that go?). My books include Welcome To The Real World , With or Without You and A Minor Indiscretion .
For Better, For Worse , was a Reading with Ripa TV pick in the USA which sent the book straight onto the USA Today bestseller list (thank you, Kelly Ripa!). I'm published in twenty-four different countries (yikes!) and some of the book covers are below.

My latest The Chocolate Lovers' Club is out now both in the UK and the USA. (Sorry for the long wait folks - now you have to hang on for the follow up!) A sequel to The Chocolate Lovers Club - The Chocolate Lovers' Diet is available. Also out is my latest paperback It's a Kind of Magic.
Welcome To The Real World ,was short-listed for the Romantic Novel of the Year award in the UK and The Chocolate Lovers' Diet has recently won the award for Best Happy-Ever-After at the Melissa Nathan Awards for Comedy Romance. My latest book is All You Need is Love .
I send out a monthly newsletter to keep my readers up to date and run a free monthly prize draw. The current prize draw is for a Virgin Vie Vanity Fair Necklace - lovely. All you have to do is take a little trip to my main website before the end of November and sign up for my newsletter which enters you into the free prize draw. Easy-peasy.

Best Carole

You Should Be a Romance Novelist
You see the world as it should be, and this goes double for all matters of the heart. You can find the romance in any situation, and you would make a talented romance story writer... And while you may be a traditional romantic, you're just as likely to be drawn to quirky or dark love stories. As long as it deals with infatuation, heartbreak, and soulmates - you could write it.
What Type of Writer Should You Be?
You Belong in New York City
You're the energetic, ambitious type.
And only NYC is fast enough for you.
Maybe you'll set yourself up with a killer career
Or simply take in all the city has to offer. What City Do You Belong In?

My Interests

My partner Lovely Kev and I love to travel. In recent years we've been to China, Nepal (for research for my book With or Without You), Equador and the Galapagos Islands (fantastic!) We're off to Peru soon to walk the Inca Trail. Kev and I do lots of hiking and cycling too. Other than that, I love reading (top hobby for all authors I should think). I also do aerobics classes. I like cooking, but I'm not the world's best - though my chocolate bread and butter pudding is enough to make grown men swoon.

I'd like to meet:

New friends, fellow writers, my lovely readers, the gorgeous George Clooney and the Deppmeister.

Music:

I love music and have to listen to it while I'm writing. Current favourites include James Morrison, The Kooks, The Feeling, Gorillaz, Amy Winehouse, Scissor Sisters and Robbie.Classics include Coldplay, Sting, The Corrs, Deacon Blue. Oldies but goodies include Fleetwood Mac, Human League, Pet Shop Boys, Simply Red. Boz Scaggs, Joan Armatrading, Ian Drury and the Blockheads, Roxy Music and, of course, David Bowie. When I need inspiration for my writing I always turn to Prefab Sprout - much underrated - and George Michael.I also got really into John Mayer after a recent trip to San Francisco. I'm also forced to listen to Bon Jovi every time I'm in the car due to my dearly-beloved's proclivities.

Movies:

I'm film mad - all-time favourites include Cabaret, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Anything with Hugh Grant in. I also love cheap sci-fi films and weepies. I'm also a sucker for old musicals - particularly anything with Gene Kelly in it. Thought the new James Bond film was great. Am hoping that one day at least one of the films I've got 'in development' in Hollywood will make it to the big screen - or even the small screen!

Television:

Wednesday night is our telly night - addicted to The Apprentice, Grand Designs, then Desperate Housewives. A good night in. Am also a complete 24 freak and have currently been crazy about The Tudors! My social life ends every year when the X-Factor starts. Would love to see more 'proper' drama and comedy rather than endless reality shows.

Books:

I rush straight out and buy all of Philippa Gregory's books. Ditto Harlan Coben - love all his twists and turns. In my own genre, I love Sophie Kinsella, Marian Keyes, Emily Giffin and Sarah Mlynowski (who I edited the fabulous Girls' Night In series with in the USA and Canada). I also love vampire books - MaryJanice Davidson's stories are chicklit vampire and very funny. All-time top books include The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and Goodbye Johnny Thunder by Tania Kindersley. But I could rave on and on as I love so many writers. I have to recommend my own books here too, don't I?

Heroes:

Jack Bauer - 24. A man who can save the world and still remain so sensitive has to be good in my book! I ought to mention Lovely Kev here too - my very own romantic hero!
My Meez:
This is supposed to be me in my office, but they didn't have one with blonde highlights and, believe me, my office is much messier. It's also supposed to wave and do cute stuff, but this meez seems to be stuck on manic typing - about right then, really...
