About Me

I'm forty six, married to Liz with a beautiful daughter named India. I have a BA Honours in Creative Writing and Theatre Studies and a Masters and Diploma in Social Work. I have also trained (and continuing to train) as a life coach. I currently work in the voluntary sector as an advocate advocating on behalf of older people for a well known charity. I have a strong interest in loss and grief work and working with older people and this impacts greatly on my work. I also have an interest in Buddhism, philosophy and Asian culture.Seccho (982 -1052 China) once said “What life can compare with this? Sitting quietly by the window, I watch leaves fall and the flowers bloom as the season come and the seasons go.” And like Seccho, until the wind blows in a different direction, this is what I do in my spare time. I sit by windows, in cafés, the office, the bedroom, on buses and trains and write poetryMy poetry consists of words built and created by experiences as they are happening, images and observations, which are then cut to their bare flesh to create small three lined poems. These then become, hopefully, like tiny multicoloured blossom leaves falling from a still, yet focused, mind to be gathered and pressed for keepsakes in the imagination of their readers. These tiny, three lined brushstroke poems, I have come see as an art form on their own. The poems are based on nature, desire, love, age, loss, grief, meditation and beauty. The poems are in their very nature simple and yet, because they are so concentrated and written with so few words, eventually lead to a brushstroke of words full of meaning and imagery leaving, hopefully, their reader wanting more.I am a founder member and part of Red Square Collective (an art group based in the East Midlands). A very small quantity of some of my artwork and photography can be found on profile in pics and some of my poetry can be found throughout my blogs. To view more of the work and the artists i work with visit www.redsquarecollective.co.ukIn the future - well lets just see what that brings.
