About Me

::
I'm a London baby and author/poet/journalist. I've just published my first book, an edgy children's thriller called The Bone Cradle written under the name C.E.Trueman which is aimed at nine to twelves. If you would like to buy it, you can go to www.bonecradle.com or www.bookbutler.com for more info.I love old style glamour, especially the 1930's and 40's Hollywood starlets. I guess I'm just an old fashioned girl ;-)I am fascinated by all things spiritual and believe we only detect a tiny fraction of the bigger picture. A qualified Reiki practitioner, I have just completed an Anatomy and Physiology Diploma which was quite a humbling experience. If you are reading this, you have an amazing body! ;-) I have recently started working with crystals and am very drawn towards absent healing.
I am open minded, sensuous, curious and like trying new things, especially if they are exciting activities like parasailing, husky sledging, stroking cheetahs or swimming with dolphins!I believe it is good for the soul to do things that scare you. You only grow when you step outside your comfort zone.Oh, yes, and I love to dance!

My Interests

Writing; painting and drawing - I'm a member of a life art group, Art 4 Life who aim to exhibit twice a year - next exhibition is in Hertfordshire in November (see a couple of examples in My Pics); making, designing and decorating my own cakes, especially ones with handpainted fairies on (see MySpace pics); singing and performing - I've just passed my First Concert Certificate in singing and belong to local am dram musical group Showco; going to poetry readings; partying. My Celtic tree sign is Ash "Associated with Neptune, the trident and Lir, the sea god. Ash Tree people have two currents running through them. One side is very artistic and sensitive, while the other is quite down to earth. Compassion is the key word here, as they see the best and worst the world has to offer. Because of this dual nature, their motives are often misunderstood by those round them."

I'd like to meet:

Anyone luminous, eccentric, open, authentic and kind with a zest for life! I would especially like to meet intelligent thinkers, visionaries and creative and spiritual people. This includes writers, poets, artists and musicians but would love to hear from anyone really.

Music:

Tastes in music are catholic from classical to pop although I tend to listen to rock music quite a lot. I like Incubus and Muse, Linkin Park (esp Minutes to Midnight), Evanescence, Kate Bush, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Keane, Hayley Westenra, Bliss, all haunting Irish music, Brian Eno (Julie is sublime) and Iggy Pop which takes me back to heady hash-filled college days.I was a 'soul girl' in London during the 70's (long live Invicta!)

Movies:

I love old black and white films like It's a Wonderful Life, Brief Encounter and Now Voyager, Hollywood and vintage Laurel and Hardy. I also enjoy horror films but not the really nasty ones like Hostel. However, I saw the Spanish film Pan's Labyrinth which was disturbing but brilliant. Films that left an impression are The Illusionist, The Green Mile, Contact, The Passion of Christ, The English Patient, Donnie Darko, Howards End - the beginning especially is really beautiful, The Piano, De Lovely, Don't Look Now, The Butterfly Effect and The Elephant Man (John Hurt I love you). I have a soft spot for rom coms and adored The Holiday. My favourite actresses are the beautiful Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster and Emma Thompson because they are talented without being pretentious and obsessed with their looks. Favourite actor? It's got to be Keanu Reeves. Mind you, Johnny Depp comes a close second most of the time.

Television:

I don't watch much tv but do like dramas and sitcoms. I also enjoy Science programmes and documentaries which look at the human condition. My favourite comedies are One Foot in the Grave and I adore Monty Python.

Books:

I'm reading my friend Maria Savva's book A Time to Tell but I prefer writing to reading. I like to delude myself that I have original thought ;-). Fave poets are Michael Armstrong and Ted Hughes. I adore Dylan Thomas's creative command of English. I LOVE to play with words.

Heroes:

My Dad who I miss very much; Hammy the Hamster

Distillation of the Flesh

What makes a human being?     Today, I have learned that if you were to take an average human body and distil the flesh it would produce: enough water to fill a 45 litre container, enough ...

Gloves - a poem

Please note that this is purely a piece of slightly erotic writing and although written in the first person does not necessarily reflect the true innermost and actual feelings of the author! ...

The Stillness - a poem
