About Me

Once upon a time I started out to write a happy song. I was born in Michigan, raised in Arizona, and live in San Francisco. I'm sometimes inspired, awed, destitute. This music is grounded in traditional American music and troubadours from various walks of life. This set of songs was recorded at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco. Scott Solter was the engineer. I blew the harp, played the guitar, did the vocals, and bumbled a little on the organ. The songs were recorded in Dec of 2007 and February of 2008.
Friday nights can get a little wild.
Love. Sweat. Beauty. Amen.

A Milkweed

Anonymous as cherubs
Over the crib of God,
White seeds are floating
Out of my burst pod.
What power had I
Before I learned to yield?
Shatter me, great wind:
I shall possess the field.
A Stone
As casual as cow-dung
Under the crib of God,
I lie where chance would have me,
Up to the ears in sod.
Why should I move? To move
Befits a light desire.
The sill of heaven would founder,
Did such as I aspire.

Recorded songs at Tiny Telephone

Spent the last five days recording fourteen songs, mostly me with the acoustic, live with a few sparse overdubs. I felt diminutive trying to fill the large room at Tiny Telephone. Scott Solter was the...
