To say that JONATHAN CHAN is Singapore's worst-kept musical secret is an understatement. Honest lyrics, sweet melodies and mature musicality come together in Jonathan's heady brew of unique acoustic folk-pop. Drawing on an instinctive talent for music and melody, Jonathan brings together such disparate influences as Simon and Garfunkel, U2, Cole Porter, the Ramones and Fugazi.
JONATHAN has been actively making music since 1990, and is best known as being the main voice of Singaporean punk-rock legends Plainsunset. Jonathan is also the principal songwriter for the cutting-edge Christian worship artiste the Sonic-Edge Band. , and has a song published internationally by Integrity Media International (US). He has also been involved in a myriad of other musical projects, the most notable of which would be his one-year stint with the New Zealand-based No Longer Music, playing with the band in such countries as Jamaica, Poland and Brazil.
JONATHAN'S humble hard-working musical ethic makes him a joy to work with, and he works hard to ensure that every performance is his best. Watching him make music, one cannot deny that he is intensely passionate and absolutely in love with making and sharing music with his audience. His down-to-earth manner both on and offstage endears him to his audience, and has won for him a growing fanbase.
Singaporean singer-song writer, JON CHAN, better known as the front man of indie rock band Plainsunset, released his first solo EP as an exclusive digital download via his myspace page on July 8th 2008.
PENCIL TRACINGS is a two track EP showcasing Jon's song-writing talents in their most stripped down form. The songs were recorded with just an acoustic guitar allowing the listener a much more intimate encounter with the man behind the music.
