Born (1984) and raised in Beer-sheva , israel , to a musical family (mom and dad are piano teachers) ,started playing piano at age six, took the sax at age 10 and started to play jazz at age 13, studied at beer-sheva conservatory , at age 18 joined the Israeli army and served at the IDF orchestra for three years after release itai attended the jerusalem music academy under the tuition of the great Eli Benacot ,one of the best jazz saxophone educators.During that time in Israel itai took part of a few musical projects starting with his father at age 13 Playing a jazz trio that was formed with saxophone , organ and drums , this band played from standards to original material , after a couple of years itai joined a sucssesful pop-funk band ,â€Machumara†a local band that worked in beer-sheva and around it , and recorded with them the cd
“Badereh leeov†that was released in 2005 under Feedback Records .
during that time itai formed with players from the south of Israel a quintet that played fusion music which payed it’s dues to the great fusion artists like mike stern , Michael brecker , bob berg etc.
and also performing their original music as well.After moving to Jerusalem itai joined the six member funk band “P.Project†that was led by Alon Barak, a local player from Jerusalem , and performed with them regularly in clubs and parties .In 2006 itai moved to the Netherlands to continue his studies at Consevatorium Van Amsterdam under the tuition of Jasper Blom And Yaniv Nachum and to take part and lead several musical projects like Itai Weissman Trio , Morris Kliphuis's Mk6, Gideon Van Gelder Quintet Amsterdam Jazz Orchestra and more......This coming September itai is re-locating again to Temple University to continue studies with the great saxophone educator Dick Oatts.Stay tuned for some updates......
