About Me

In the early spring of 2005 the jazz arranger/singer Emil Bovbjerg founded his first jazz septet during his studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. The group sprang out from the vibrant community of musicians from around the world surrounding the Berklee campus, and featured some of the most promising young talents in the Boston area at the time. It was mainly through this group and the compositions and arrangements written for it, that the, Danish born, arranger & singer earned his skills and reputation as a bandleader. Now, 3 years later, The Emil Bovbjerg Septet is resurrected in Europe with a new strong line-up of musicians presenting an exciting repertoire of original compositions and arrangements from the hand of the bandleader himself. The line-up of musicians for this new septet is based on the same formula as its predecessor, with a carefully selected group of outstanding individuals from 6 different countries & certainly very different backgrounds, each with talent and communicational skills fit for the major league of contemporary jazz. The 7 musicians move effortlessly through lyrical ballads and swinging grooves side by side, never hesitating to venture into improvisational passages where the various instrumentalists come to speak with voices of their own, full of interaction and instrumental story-telling. The inspiration is drawn from many different sources such as Bill Frisell, Kenny Wheeler, Jazz Messengers, Wayne Shorter, Radiohead, Kurt Elling, etc.Photos by Claudia HansenBooking: +31 629404028 / [email protected] real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
