About Me

I'm a suspense author. My books include the Edgar-nominated HIDE YOUR EYES and YOU KILL ME, and my first hardcover, TRASHED is out NOW on NAL/Obsidian. (I'm very excited about it.) It's about a reluctant supermarket tabloid reporter who uncovers a grisly series of Hollywood murders. Publisher's Weekly called it "TREMENDOUS FUN," and Library Journal said it was "ACTION-PACKED," and the Chicago Sun-Times referred to it as a "FUN AND JUICY READ" and the Cleveland Plain-Dealer called it "CAUSTICALLY HILARIOUS" and a bunch of other people said nice things about it too. It looked really annoying when I put all the quotes from everybody in this section, because I couldn't figure out how to separate them. But they'll be on my website soon, and trust me, they're good. HERE'S SOME NEWS: TRASHED will be OUT IN PAPERBACK in August (Smaller! Cheaper! But just as much book!) and will include a teaser for my next book, HEARTLESS, which is due out in September! Yes, September, 2008. How excited am I about that? So excited, I can hardly stand it... website: www.alisongaylin.com Oh, and I also blog at www.firstoffenders.typepad.com

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

You, of course! In the meantime, CHECK OUT THE TRAILER FOR TRASHED! That's right. It's the TRASHED trailer, as opposed to trailer trash. And I promise you, it's better than that joke.

Music:

Lou Reed and Velvet Underground, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Franz Ferdinand, TRex, Rachael Yamagata, Swati, Tommy James and the Shondells, The Felice Brothers, Blue October, Bar Scott, Bill O'Bryon, Mark Donato, Natalie Merchant, Mika, Pixies, U2, Coldplay, Etta James, Aretha, Meat Loaf, Iggy Pop, New York Dolls, Brian Eno, Robyn Hitchcock, David Bowie, Aimee Mann, Ludacris, Johnny Cash, James Brown, Ennio Morricone, Mozart, Elgar and about a billion trillion others.

Movies:

Godfathers I and II, Deliverance, Jaws, Rosemary's Baby, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Happiness, Bad Santa, Badlands, Days of Heaven, Stranger on a Train, Vertigo, Taxi Driver, Something About Mary, Casablanca, Annie Hall, Crimes and Misdemeanors, A Face in the Crowd,The Producers (the original), West Side Story, All That Jazz, The Lives of Others, To Live, Babel, Shaun of the Dead, all the Marx Brothers movies and so many others I could do this all day...

Television:

The Simpsons, American Idol, Spongebob (I have a six-year-old daughter, but I'd probably watch it anyway...) Curb Your Enthusiasm, Daily Show, Flight of the Conchords, Breaking Bad, lots I'm forgetting I'm sure.

Books:

I read anything and everything except for all-male erotica and technical manuals. Okay, I'm lying... but it has to be really good all-male erotica.

TRASHED is flying high!

I'm not usually one to post my positive reviews. That's not modesty so much as laziness -- posting good reviews would require finding them all first, then either typing them out or copying links... Ke...
