As love and hate become entwined, angels perish equally with the fools. - Jason Adaes Bourne

Often I’m asked why I wrote this book. After all no one’s interested in philosophy anymore. People nowadays are just too flighty for that, they say. Outside of university students, who would possibly read it anyway?
My answer is always the same. The target audience for Biblical Paradigm Shift isn’t college students per se, it was written for anyone and everyone. Everyone who wants definitive answers, and wants them delivered with honesty and without pretentious words. Everyone who has ever questioned whether God exists. Everyone who wonders about life and their purpose in it. Everyone who has ever witnessed the death of a child and wondered, “Why?†Everyone who has ever seen injustice and asked why God would allow such a thing. Everyone who feels lost and insignificant and wonders what to do. I wrote this book so everyone who reads it, could unlock the secrets of the Bible and see God and life as they were meant to be seen all along.
Consider for a moment the following questions many believers and non-believers have asked. See if you can answer them definitively.
If God is righteous, why then does He allow advantages for the wicked, while inflicting hardship upon the blameless?
If God is impartial, why are some children born with fine bodies and healthy minds, while others suffer disabilities and birth defects ranging from blindness to limited mental capacity?
If God is equitable, how is it some die as infants, untested by temptation, yet others stand facing the possibility of damnation looming over them?
If God is honorable, why are some born to a life of prosperity and freedom while others face drudgery and oppression, only to have both judged by the same standard?
If you stumbled in the least, know that I wrote this book for everyone who, like myself, have asked these questions and turned to those claiming to answer them . . . . .but didn’t. It's as simple as that. That's why I wrote this book.

I 'm a writer and lifelong student of philosophy who has journeyed among the ruins of Rome and Athens walking in the footsteps of those who have gone before. As a former Rosicrucian, the history and mystery found in the works of inspired genius still brings fascination. My interest in the Bible has been a 35-year quest, culminating in the publishing of Biblical Paradigm Shift.
F or those who may not know, a paradigm (pare.a.dime) shift occurs when the ordinary is seen through the extraordinary eyes of a visionary. The validity of that vision is then confirmed with logic or evidence and announced to the world. Biblical Paradigm Shift is just such an announcement. God inspires those willing to be inspired and prods those willing to do the necessary work. Writing this book changed my life for the better, and reading it will do the same for you. The faith of one who knows cannot be shaken.
M ake no mistake, Biblical Paradigm Shift is not the typical and predictable religious treatise; it adds nothing to the Bible nor does it take anything away. It simply explains without the hindrance of preconceived notions. In other words, seeing logically that which is commonly overlooked or ignored. That is after all, the markings of a visionary.
B iblical Paradigm Shift is concerned with only one thing, the original intent of the scriptures. Once you've read it, you will find a renewed interest in the Bible, for you will see it as if you’d never seen it before. The creation story in Genesis and the book of Revelation will fascinate and overwhelm with its logical progression. Both books are analyzed and interpreted verse by verse, thereby eliminating criticism that its been taken out of context. Now the Word can be seen, read, and understood by most anyone in ways never before realized. It is truly a paradigm shift and will open the eyes to a whole new understanding of God's word.

˜˜˜˜˜ On the cutting edge
John - Lafayette, New Jersey (9/6/2004)
Nothing in the world could have prepared me for this book. As a devout and practicing Catholic having devoted quite a large portion of my life to religious study, I find myself challenged by Mr. Bourne’s theologies in a way I could never have imagined. Though we sit on different sides of the same fence I must admit that I found a great deal of logic in his theories as well as a book which is written to be read. The author does not lose one in trying to impress us with his two dollar words but has managed to convey his thoughts rather succinctly and poignantly. I give this Author my highest recommendations to any whom wish to challenge themselves both mentally and spiritually. God bless.
˜˜˜˜˜ A breath of fresh air

Somehow Jason Bourne has managed to accomplish an amazing feat with his book, Biblical Paradigm Shift. Almost without ego, it seems, Bourne has single handedly done what no priest, reverend, rabbi or prophet in my life has managed to do. He has broken down the ancient text of the bible, analyzed it all logically, and offers up his best estimation on what it all means. He does so simply and eloquently while not losing readers of limited skills or boring readers who enjoy pretentiously worded theological essays. Although I must part ways with some of Bourne’s views, I must admit that the overwhelming sense of logic in it all has made me think. For that, cheers and five stars! I recommend this book.

˜˜˜˜˜ Expanded Vision
Dr. Jennifer Smith - Denver, CO, A reviewer, December 16, 2004
The title of this book is perfect. What I love about this book is that it embraces biblical text, while encouraging the reader to question and contemplate its content; not to debate its validity, but to find meaning as it relates to your own life. This book is well written and very thoughtful. Not only does it talk about a paradigm shift, it gives us a bridge to begin to make that shift within ourselves. The bridge is the wisdom within the Bible. The shift is our understanding of it. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in spiritual growth.
˜˜˜˜˜ The truth is out there.

I’ve read many books on bible studies and philosophy. Many say the same thing and leave you asking
the same questions. This book gives insight to some of these questions.

I found this book to be very thought- provoking and fascinating reading. It's a little book that packs a big punch. It addressed questions that I have been pondering for years.
˜˜˜˜˜ VERY GREAT BOOK
Brian Taylor
This book is great. People with narrow minds should open their minds to greater possibilities. I am glad we have found someone who can give us a different approach to looking at the bible.

CHAPTER FIVE
A New Beginning
The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before His works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
Proverbs 8:22-23
Genesis 1:1-In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. When people try to imagine God, the descriptions become many and varied. To some, God is as an old bearded man, much like Michelangelo’s depiction of Him in the Sistine Chapel. For others, He is a spiritual light with no discernable shape or form. Most Christians choose to see the Father through the image of Jesus. It is fine to see our Lord in whatever way brings comfort, but for the sake of truth let’s go beyond these fanciful thoughts. Allow your mind to move closer to Him, for He is more than mankind will ever comprehend from afar. Think of the body of God as composed of an infinite number of souls moving and thinking as one, much in the same way as our bodies are composed of an infinite number of cells. All of them, in most cases, working for the betterment of the body. Remember God said: Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Keep in mind also that one of the many names for God found in the Old Testament is Lord of hosts. How should we perceive this, Lord over hosts, or Lord composed of hosts? A church filled with loving and humble people concerned with nothing more than serving others, is as close to a living testimonial to the image of God as will ever be found on Earth.
In the last chapter a question was raised. Why did God create? The question that wasn’t asked is when did He create. Of course, the philosophical response would be in the beginning. To which brings the question, the beginning of what? It is said, with God there is no beginning and no end. If this is so, then to what are the opening three words referring. For many it means the beginning of creation. Somehow the wording doesn’t seem proper to interpret the verse that way. If it means the beginning of creation, then would it not merely say God began to create heaven and earth? To say it otherwise is redundant. Naturally, his first act would be the beginning. That is the way everything is initiated. The way the verse is phrased though, suggests a beginning of something else that prompted the act of creating heaven and earth.
What it implies is a point of change in the body of God, for what else was there before the beginning? It has been suggested in other writings the change was an awakening or awareness among the emerging individual souls. This suggestion will prove to be the most logical conclusion ever presented regarding theological thought. Because once this idea is understood and accepted, the events of the beginning roll out like a tapestry. As Christ said, my father and I are one. He also said, before the world was, I am.
Out of the Judeo-Christian theology, for the most part, it says life begins at conception. In as much as this is true in the physical sense, it is not in the spiritual. The soul is eternal, from everlasting to everlasting. We too were a part of the body of God in the beginning and in all reality can say ourselves, before the world was, I am. Our problem is, like the prodigal son, we have removed ourselves so far from our heritage it has been virtually forgotten. Our most hazardous act regarding the soul is in the forgetting. The most important ...

Genesis 1:3-4- And God said, let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God saw the light that it was good. Think of this not so much as God patting himself on the back and saying I did a good job, but rather think of the goodness here as the opposite of evil. As you may have noticed, God never sees the darkness as good. Plato once said, "Light is the shadow of God." In this context his observation is quite accurate.
The light in this verse represents those who remained one with the body, while the darkness represents those who rebelled because of their desire for self-aggrandizement. From John 1:5 we read, the light shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehended it not. If darkness in this context actually meant the absence of light, then how does something so abstract and mindless comprehend anything? A mind is the only thing capable of comprehension. No, the implication here is...
