Anything written by Tolkien, Steven King or Umberto Eco. Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi on the Manson murders, but the Dark Tower Series and Lord of the Rings are my favorites. And don't forget you gotta read the Bible man! Also, pretty much anything legitimate written about the paranormal from many good authors.
