About Me
..The 1st 4 songs are excerpts from a cd of a pre-Mardi Gras ball recorded live at Ruta Maya here in Austin with Nelson Saga and Arma del Alma. My contribution is keyboard induced sounds. ****
Next 3 are arrangements of other writers material. **** Then we go club with a remix-the tracks came with Project5v2 (Cakewalk). **** Then a jam recorded with room mikes, sax take began at 4:30am on 4:30 Jam-both were 1st takes to retain the immediacy of a jam. **** Mike was separated from his drums moving to Austin and was working the studio kit. He, as well as other local musicians are available for session work here. *** The next player has the tracks from a soon to be released cd - 'Flashback, Jammin' Live @ Lightbenders' - with Austin guitarist Eddie Checchio. Brian Miller contributes congas & tambourine to 'Voodoo Gumbo'I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
Began my music career at 12 1/2. Began piano at 5 1/2, harmonica at 8, guitar & steel guitar at 11, elec. bass at 16, recorder at 24, sax(& clarinet) at 27, hand percussion at 36. I also play assorted other instruments. My 1st sound engineer gig started in '75, 1st go at (co)producing in '87.I perform a great variety of musical styles. World beat with a strong groove is my favorite, love those polyrhythms; I like all music, but C&W is my least liked among wonders(emotional issues, not musical). I have also written reggae, ska, afropop, classical, D&B, house, electronica, jazz, fusion, funk, blues, alt rock, rock, C&W, a bit of Latin and even ambient.I work in an energetic Latin dance band - "Nelson Saga, Arma del Alma" - that is an exciting blend of various traditional Latin styles combined with elements of US styles(jazz, rock, funk). I play keys and do the tenor section on the song in the mySpace player(recorded @ LightBenders). Nelson has released 3 previous cd's with different musical lineups. I have the honor to work with Big Chief Kevin Goodman as one of his Flaming Arrows(keys, percussion, and/or sax - whatever is best for the situation & the song).I am slowly working on a reggae/ska/afrobeat album and a d&b/dance/electronica album. ............... .....As of mid April '08, I have 2 pages at soundclick. One is for the blues & rock project w/Eddie - soundclick.com/flashback2. The other showcases my work(aided by friends occasionally) & some band history(eventually) - the address is soundclick.com/rodneyroach. As of the beginning of May, it has newer tracks and even more diversity of styles than my music players here. Just waiting to finish masters on the blues & rock cd before posting a player with updated tracks. Several new world beat/fusion tunes and a couple of new reggae tunes are almost far enough in the process to post.
