1996
Positive Negative formed in August 1996. The history begins about month earlier when Jakke (Kaaos,Kuolleet Kukat) and Janne (Olotila, Pax Americana, Diaspora, Hartaus, Alakulttuurin Kusipaat etc.) talked about formingreal political hardcore band like Conflict etc... They thought that thing for a while and asked for Piise (Cadgers, Riistetyt,CNT, Lihasade, Basta Basta etc.), Nappi (Riistetyt, Kaaos, Kuolleet Kukat, Pyhat Nuket / Holy Dolls, Ensam etc.) andVege (Riistetyt, Vapaus, Peruutus) to join the band. Everybody had several projects which was the reason why they practisedmainly in weekends. However the biggest reason was that Janne lived (and still lives) in Helsinki and other guys in Tampere. Alsotrainingplace was in Tampere. At that time it was purpose to replace song names with numbers or symbols. They had to reject this system'cos when they made more songs the numbers and songs got mixed-up with each other. The first gig was in 18th October atRauhanasema, Helsinki and one month later they went to studio to record their first EP "Cut the crap... it's time toAct".
1997
The EP came out in January. The sounds of this EP are not as good as possible 'cos it recorded in other studio than later sessions. Nextstep of bands history was that when Purtsi (Ehtoollinen, Absurd Attitude, Rahakka, Kaaos, Kohu-63, Pause etc.) became the secondsinger in May. At the same time they recorded their own part of Positive Negative / Detestation -split EP. It took almost one yearbefore that EP came out by Fight Records (Finland version) and Consensus Reality (USA version).
They recorded also two tracks to several compilations. In June Posinega made promovideo "(All the) Multi-corporations". InAugust they did a one week minitour in Germany. Excluding couple of gigs the tour was mainly holiday. But anyway... In autumn the bandworked hard with new songs and they did few gigs. In December they went studio again. This time it was own EP the second one "Forhow much long we can stand their Oppression". Again we had to wait that EP about one year.
1998
In the spring Piise left the band and Jan (Hardcores, Kaaos, Kohu-63, Ensam etc.) took his place. Also the training placechanged. The band trained hard with new drummer whole summer and the first gig with new line-up was in August. It was the first gig inoutdoors. Weather was terrible; it was raining almost all the time.
None the less the audience was great. Rest of the year was quiet; some gigs (e.g. two great performances with Detestation ), training anddrinking. The second own EP came out in December, about an year too late. OK€ Better late than never.
1999
The last year of the millennium. The world is going much more crazy than ever. People are become more unconcerned and selfish. With thecooperation of the European Union Finland is going to unscrupulous capitalism, almost fascism. In the May Positive Negative did their thirdown recording, 7" single witch includes only one song. That song, "Throughout The Holocaust", contains six different parts. Ican't explain that, you must hear that record yourself. It came out in July. In this time we didn't need to wait it so long than previous record.
In July Posinega did one gig in Tampere, Tammerfest festival, about a moth later bad split up. At first Vege left the band for personalreasons. Little bit later Purtsi leaved 'cos he had so much projects at the same time (that was what he said himself). Other members of theband thought that something must be able to do with new members, but every plans were useless. The Positive Negative with new memberscouldn't never be the real Positive Negative. So Jakke, Jan and Nappi thought that PosiNega don't work anymore. This happened inOctober.
That was the Positive Negative story.
2000
The Positive Negative did one gig in Puntala 2000 festivals. Members hadn't played together almost for an year, but the old touchhaven't gone anywhere.
This gave a new hope for the band. Maybe some day and somewhere The Positive Negative will continue...
2007
The singer Jakke died 29th Nov. He was 42 years old.
