Noise. fi - webzine and webradio
Noise.fi is an independent webzine dedicated to fresh, up-and-coming music. The fundamental idea is to offer a means for smaller underground bands to get some media coverage. We do feature bigger names, partly in order to flesh out the content, and partly to attract a potential audience for the as-yet-unknown bands. There is no genre limitation to the music we write about, but we tend to stay clear of your basic mainstream pop.

Little more details about Noise.fi
The news and reviews make out the most central and popular sections of the website, but gig reports , interviews , articles and the concert calendar all play an important part in the whole. Theres also a special section completely devoted to Finnish unsigned bands called Bubbling Underground . The content of Noise.fi is created by writers who are in this for one thing only, the love of music.
In recent years Noise.fi has expanded its activities to include gig organizing, radio broadcasting .
There is also a release of our own: A series of Noise.fi double-cd compilation albums that document the underground music scene here in Finland. Many of the bands featured have yet to sign a deal, but there are also some interesting signed bands on there that we feel havent got the attention they deserve. The cd is handed out for free and it can also be ordered by email for only the price of the postage.
The story in short
The first version of the webzine, called LetsMakeSomeNoise.com at this point, was launched in September 2001 with a goal of reaching 10.000 visitors a month. Version 1.0 was quite primitive, but apparently the site appealed to people, since the set goal was reached in little under a year. At its conception, the website was run by only a handful of people. Soon after that, others joined in and today we have a staff of approx. 45, the third of which is working actively with the site.
Released in late 2002, version 2.0 saw some major technical developments and the site really got going. During the next two years LetsMakeSomeNoise.com established a firm foothold in the Finnish music media. In September 2004, version 3.0 was ready. The site design was improved and most significantly the domain name was shortened to Noise.fi. As Noise.fi nears its 5th anniversary we get about 50 000 unique visitors a month, and there still doesn't seem to be an end to this growth.
Some statistics (May 2006)
Visits: 117154
Unique visitors: 49052
Page loads: 328495
Statistics based on TNS Metrix measurement
Things are looking good at the moment, however, this is not a project that will ever be finished. Noise.fi is a constantly evolving website. There are already a lot of ideas for a new version, but for now we'll catch our breath.
