What is Life Without Living....

About Me

“What is life without living” - is explicitly what this folk-pop songstress Erica Knight from Cambridge Ontario channels into her unquestionable songwriting abilities. As a true visionary with an undeniable talent for entwining melody, rhythm and escapism into well-crafted songs her lyrics speak in metaphors connecting life’s moments of love, hurt, growth & healing. Erica’s finger picking style holds her audiences captive by delivering irresistible rhythms; however it is the soothing purity of her voice and natural ability to produce memorable melodies that ultimately prevail. Some compare her sounds to the likes of Kt Tunstall, the folk-rock bounce of Natalie Merchant and at times the country-soul groove of Norah Jones.
“Comparable to Norah Jones and Natalie Merchant”
Lisa M. Bello – INDIE IN TUNE
Erica began songwriting as a teenager, channeling her natural creativity through song and then while traveling through the U.S and Canada attending concerts, festivals and workshops crafting her identity as a singer-songwriter. After returning home she spent time performing solo in local cafes, pubs and jam halls honing her skills as a performer. She then decided to return to school and became a Registered Massage Therapist and Certified Acupuncturist. Now music, candlelight and aromatherapy all represent the character and aura that surrounds her. She is a Healer by day; beauty, peace, and music with a cool glass of chardonnay by night.
“Erica Knight’s long awaited debut album is a folk gem”
Jason Schneider – THE RECORD
Erica Knight’s debut EP “When You Go” was released in 2007 at The Pines in Cambridge Ontario with over 200 fans in attendance. Erica is well known for her solo acoustic performances, but this effort was recorded with a full accompaniment of talented musicians. With one listen you will find yourself singing her songs in some erratic order, as if each song was meant to be heard based on your particular mood or time of day. The seven song EP was recorded at Frequency Studio in Cambridge Ontario and the production is the combined effort of Erica and Terry Rocha. “When You Go” is now available on iTunes and CD Baby.
Erica’s presence is strong as a live performer and she has become a local favorite at The Groove Kitchen & Music Room in Cambridge Ontario where she hosts a monthly Singer-Songwriter Showcase. As of late, Erica has been performing locally but she is focusing on her goals, and now booking venues out of town to reach her growing fan base. Erica was selected to perform at The GO! Festival in March of 2008 and has been hard at work to promote herself into some of Ontario’s great summer festivals for 2008.
We can expect to hear more great songs from this Canadian Singer/Songwriter as her destiny begins to unfold. Until then, enjoy “When You Go”. Kick your shoes off, relax & reconnect, you are safe here.~
