[email protected] een bijzonder goed geheugen heeft, ziet in Amaryllis (1983) nog een van de finalisten van de Grote Prijs Bart Peeters of zelfs de kleine Annie uit de gelijknamige musical bij het KJT. Amerika herinnert zich haar als het opkomend talent dat dankzij een beurs een jaar zang en songwriting studeerde aan het prestigieuze Berklee College Of Music in Boston.Als kind uit een creatief nest met sterke banden in het theatermilieu, vond Amaryllis in de muziek haar eigen weg. Gaandeweg ontwikkelde ze haar stem en haar pianospel, die vandaag de zo typische sound bepalen. Amaryllis timmerde zelf flink verder aan de weg, onder meer door de ontmoetingen met producers Jean Blaute en Piet Goddaer (Ozark Henry) of haar duet met Jan Leyers.De inspiratie voor haar debuut album vond Amaryllis in haar eigen leven. In het voorjaar van 2007 kroop Amaryllis samen met producer Reinert D’Haene en drummer Frank Vanweddingen enkele weken de studio in. Het resultaat is een oprecht en intiem album. Over groeien, crashen, aanvaarden en weer opstaan. Over zoeken naar het grotere plaatje en jezelf onderweg tegenkomen Over een warm hart dat op een kruispunt staat in het leven. Het zijn herkenbare thema’s van alle tijden, gebracht op zo’n manier dat ieder van ons zijn eigen verhaal weerspiegeld ziet. (tekst: Arianne Van Doninck)

Some people might recall seeing Amaryllis (1983) as one of the finalists in the Belgian Talent Show “De Grote Prijs Bart Peetersâ€. Some might even have caught her on stage as the little red headed orphan Annie. She was welcomed at the prestigious Berklee College Music in Boston, which she attended thanks to a scholarship the college granted her.Being born into a creative family, with strong connections in the world of theatre, gave Amaryllis the will to find her own path. Along the way she started developing her voice and piano playing thus creating her own sound. Amaryllis worked to find herself through encounters with several producers and artists like Jean Blaute or Piet Goddaer (Ozark Henry). She even recorded a duet with Jan Leyers.Amaryllis uses her own life’s experience as a source of inspiration in her writing. Together with producer Reinert D’haene and drummer Frank Vanweddingen Amaryllis went into the studio in the spring of 2007. The result is a sincere, genuine and intimate record, ... about growing, crashing, accepting and getting back up. ... about seeing the bigger picture and running into yourself along the way. ... about a warm heart at a crossroad. The themes are of all ages and times, performed in such a way that most people will recognise these stories as their own.
