Imagine an audience mesmerized by a smooth, soulful song emanating from the stage—Carrie Catherine can give even a stadium candlelit intimacy. As the beat intensifies, they dig into the song—toes tapping, shoulders swaying, heads nodding. The poetic lyrics and sassy songwriting keep them hanging on every word. Carrie Catherine dances and sways with her guitar, her left leg kicking up dramatically when she breaks into the chorus. This sexy, soulful refrain will repeat in their heads for the rest of the night. This is the sound of “green-eyed soulâ€.
Carrie Catherine’s vivid imagery and storytelling come alive on her latest album Green-eyed Soul, which will be released in April 2007. For this project, Carrie partnered with Don Kerr (Ron Sexsmith, Hidden Cameras, Peter Elkas) whose production and performance infuses the songs with an inviting and unique groove.
Green-eyed Soul is Carrie’s third album, following her 2005 release Venus Envy. Produced by John MacArthur Ellis (Jeremy Fisher, The Be Good Tanyas, Barney Bentall) the album was branded “arguably the best Saskatchewan independent release of 2005†(Gerry Krochak, Regina Leader Post).
Carrie’s first release Out the Car Window (June 2003) also received significant acclaim, being featured twice on Joan of Arcadia, as well as the new television series Beautiful People.
