About Me

Ryan Andersen went to school for audio engineering and production at the Centre for Digital Imaging and Sound in Burnaby, BC in 1996. Two years later, he graduated from the Masters program at the top of his class and began working as a runner/assistant at Bryan Adams’ recording facility called the Warehouse Studio in downtown Vancouver. His first project was a band called Red Velvet Relief with producer Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Eve 6, Good Charolette). After that came many other projects with producers such as Garth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Pacifier, Hedley), Bob Clearmountain (Bryan Adams), Randy Staub (Metallica, Nickelback), and Mike Fraser (Aerosmith, AC/DC) to name a few. Some of the artists that Ryan worked with at the Warehouse include AC/DC, Sarah McLachlan, Moist, Sheryl Crow, Bryan Adams, Randy Newman, and Mudvayne.

Ryan eventually began freelancing as a music editor/engineer with Joey Moi, a friend from audio school. As a team they began working with independent bands, producing and editing their sound, and getting many of them signed to deals with record labels in the U.S. and Canada. Ryan and Joey worked briefly in Seattle alongside producer Rick Parashar (Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog, Blind Melon) at his studio “London Bridge”. They then came back to record Theory of a Deadman’s debut, which achieved high album sales in Canada and the US. This led to other work with Theory’s co-producer Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) on many of his side projects, and eventually on his two Nickelback records, “The Long Road” and “All the Right Reasons”. Both of these went multi-platinum in the US and Canada and were each the biggest selling records in North America at one point. Ryan worked on many other projects during this time including Default, Thornley, Bo Bice, Hinder, Closure, Chad Kroeger’s song “Hero” and his collaboration with Santana, as well as many other albums and demos for independent acts.
In 2005 Ryan decided it was time to move his family back to its roots in Saskatchewan and start producing on his own. He opened RedDoor Recording and began booking clients immediately. His first project was not a local Saskatchewan act but a San Diego band named Nick Black. He flew down to produce, engineer, and edit the record, then had it mixed in Hollywood by renowned mix engineer Ben Grosse. Ryan has been back to Los Angeles to produce a couple more projects as well as help design and build The Castle Studios in Hollywood, CA.
Ryan has also worked on many other projects in the recent past including Faber Drive, Hurricane Cletis, Hedged, Straight Faced Liars, Krankenstyne, Jezebel’s Kiss, Lukes Disciples, Sundown Strip, Random Design, Aerocar Model Four, Future Villain, Rides Again, The Midway State, and singer/songwriter Kal Hourd, who recently won the “Rising Star Award” at the Saskatchewan Country Music Awards.
