For the past year or so, the NDP govenrment, under Calvert's leadership has been conducting a Music Industry Review. They've consulted with us and listened to what we believed needed to be done to create a more sustainable environment for people in this province who want to earn a living making music on a full-time basis.
We spoke! They listened! And on October 4, the NDP government announced a significant funding increase that will help get more Saskatchewan arists and bands on national and international stages. This was not a campaign promise - this is a DONE DEAL! Did you know that right now, bands and artist in virtually every other province envy us? Right now, we are living in the one province where government gets it! The NDP understands that what we do contributes to the quality of life of the people who live here! The NDP gets that a healthy music scene in Saskatchewan will attract young people. The NDP recognizes that we have some serious talent here - and that we deserve a hell of a lot more recognition and money than we have in the past. Musicians that I know from other provinces are talking about moving here because right now - it is BETTER HERE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE!
Lorne Calvert Rules! He has earned my trust and confidence! If you are in anyway involved with the music and the arts, we believe that it is in your best interest to vote NDP on November 7.
Thanks

SASKATCHEWAN ARTISTS --- PLEASE --- VOTE NDP --- IT'S VERY IMPORTANT YOU DO - PLEASE DON'T PISS AWAY ALL THE POTENTIAL THIS PROVINCE HAS --- RE-ELECT THE SASKATCHEWAN NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY --- THE SUCCESS' WE'VE SEEN OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE STRONG LEADERSHIP OF LORNE CALVERT AND THE PROGRESSIVE POLICIES OF THE SASKATCHEWAN NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

As a Saskatchewan based Record Producer/Audio Post Production Professional and Singer/Songwriter I will be voting for the provincial NDP party for the upcoming provincial election --- and I encourage the rest of the Provincial Music and Film Industry to do the same. I know a lot of younger artists think that NOT voting is a good way to go. Please --- vote --- it is your right.

As far as the other provincial parties go: The Sask Party is dangerous.Their policies are archaic and, as an artist I find their candidates not only overtly right wing, but also extremely hate filled. I also find it really dangerous to even consider voting for a political party that hasn't yet told the public their COMPLETE platform. What else is in
store if they were to get in power?

The Green Party is NOT a wise choice. Splitting the left is the last thing the artistic community in this province need do. Although it is noble, and the environment is an important issue - this party garnered less than 1% of the popular vote last election --- if that were to increase by 1-2% it would, in my opinion help guarantee a Sask Party win --- and, all of those votes/voice would never be heard --- the Sask Party would not piss on a Green Party or NDP supporter if they were on fire. Your vote would be wasted and the outcome would be dire.

The Liberal party is also not a good option. More votes Liberal = Less votes NDP = Sask Party Government.

Please, if your political beliefs lean from the centre to the left --- VOTE NDP --- As an artist in this province the NDP has shown us continued support unrivaled across Canada. I work in the Film Industry, which has grown exponentially since 1999 - due, in large part to the support of the provincial NDP government. I also work in the Music Industry. The NDP announced a large amount of funding toward the Music Industry, and the artistic sector last month. This support is key to the growth, long-term development and sustainability of the Music and Artistic Industries in this province.

Without the support shown for the film industry 8 years back --- we'd likely not have seen a series called Corner Gas --- without this new financial support, the Music and Artistic Industries in the province will suffer. If the Sask Party were to get into power you can kiss that funding and support goodbye.

As a musician - an artisan - a film-maker - as a photographer - a playwright - a live theater professional - a writer - etc in Saskatchewan - --- I believe it is your duty to show support to the provincial NDP.

In 2007 thus far this province has seen the presentation of: The Juno Awards - The Canadian Country Music Awards - The Western Canadian Music Awards - The Waniska Aboriginal Music Festival - The Gemini Awards - with many Saskatchewan artists gaining prominent recognition at these events.

Over the past 2 year property values, province wide have increased --- people from around Canada know about the potential of this province --- they are moving here.

Everything is going so well --- let's not piss it away.
