About Me

Learn more at WWW.STOPCOONIN.COMStop Coonin Movement, LLC is an organization committed to challenging the misrepresentation of Black people prevalent in contemporary U.S. society. The objective of our organization is to foster discussion among young and old alike about the exploitative features of the entertainment industry as relate to race, gender, and class through a public education program called “stop coonin!"During these times where negative and inaccurate images are over-represented, members of Stop Coonin Movement, LLC recognize the continuity between the minstrelsy of old and the representations that are pervasive in today’s entertainment industry. Realizing the historical significance of minstrelsy and the ways in which misrepresentation has contributed to discrimination and exploitation, we decided to embark on a project of mass education to help consumers understand the negative impacts of modern day minstrelsy.Essentially, we seek to “sell” the Stop Coonin’ message. To accomplish the selling of our idea(s), we offer t-shirts that are designed with the intent of sparking meaningful discussion. The t-shirt campaign and educational website are the two primary means of disseminating and sharing ideas about modern day minstrelsy. Moreover, revenues generated from t-shirt sales provide a means of supporting our vast array of educational services, including lectures, accessible educational materials, seminars, workshops, etc.Our website is finally up and running! Order shirts, contact us, or learn more about us by visiting our website at www.stopcoonin.com.It's a Movement People!
