Paddy Montgomery

Hi, my name's Paddy and I am a musician living in Adelaide, South Australia. I grew up playing guitar, trying to get around as many styles as I can, with strong roots in rock and blues. Today I still play electric guitar with mates and at various shows, but my guitar playing as of recently focuses on acoustic fingerstyle playing, where I like to play Celtic, English Folk, Medieval and others.My main musical interest today though is the regional folk music of Greece, and the classical and folk music of Turkey. The instruments I mainly focus on alongside the guitar are the Cretan laouto, Irish bouzouki and Turkish saz. It is not uncommon for me to rock up at gigs with a bus full of instruments. I have attended various seminars in Crete at Ross Daly's workshop, the Labyrinth. I also play in a band called "Dionysus" here in Adelaide which I founded with a friend of mine who is an excellent percussionist. I also play with Chris Finnen's "Guitar Safari", which plays acoustic music taking influences and using instruments from all over the world, and a number of other groups around Adelaide and Melbourne.
