"Zydeco Ted" / "Zydeco Bon!"

About Me

I migrated from Houston Texas in 86’/87’where I was in a band that is now called "The Zydeco Dots" When I arrived in Lexington, I put together what I’ve always called "Big Fun Louisiana Style Band" playing most of the music with the Rockin’ Blues Elements I learned in Chicago, as well as the Texas Swing influences, when we rocked in Houston. It’s a "Big Fun" fast paced party. I’ve always believed to make the crowd part of the band, and make the crowd a party instead of just a crowd. I’ve always been deeply thankful that I’ve been blessed to lead the band with excellent players behind me such as "Tee Potter" on Guitar and "Mike Vee" on Drums and Scrub-Board in Houston, as well as the Kentucky Musicians such as Bassists Peter Griffen, Sean McLaughlin, Jim Halderman, Butch Ellis & Joe Hurst of the "Zydeco Dots", Guitarists Jim Gleason, Lindsey and Jim Olive,John Hedger (of "Johnny Roy & The Rub-Tones),Tom Roldan, Matt Presby and D J Rice. Excellent drummers such as Lee Sabel, Jacobo Aragon,Brian Morgan, Steve Parrish and Joe Rossyion of the "Zydeco Dots"I’m thankful everyday that God has given me the gift of Texas Style Zydeco and Louisiana Style Music to share with others, because I just want to make people happy and give them a good "Big Fun Memory" of Passin’ a good time!We have a saying..."Have Accordion, Will Travel"! My Interests

Music:

Band Website: cdbaby.com/cd/zydecoted
Band Members: Presently: Pierre' Griffen, Bass Guitar Lee Sabel, Drums (Guitar) Different Players
Influences: I'll probably miss some people that really influenced my Blues,Soul, Zydeco & Cajun styles I play, but I'm going to go in chronological order: Jackie Wilson,James Brown,BB King,Howlin' Wolf, Fats Domino,Smokey Robinson,Al Green, Johnny Winter,Doug Kershaw, Clifton Chenier,Buckwheat Zydeco,JoEl Sonnier,Zachary Richard,Marc Savoy,Wayne Toups,Beau Joque,Terrence Simeon,Boozo Chevis,Jeffery Broussard,Rockin' Sydney,Nathan Williams, Raymond Chevis and many others. You can hear some these artists' influences in my new Zydeco/Blues CD "Texas Zydeco" It just came out and is presently being released to record companies, publishers, agents, managers and various Zydeco and Blues magazines. Since my heart is the "Big Fun Louisiana Style" sound with a Texas Style though, I decided to include 2 waltzes played on the Cajun Accordion. The one Waltz I have on my samples is called "Clair De Lune'" It's a sort of "Romeo/Julliette" theme of two seperated Louisiana Lovers, who can only communicate with each other through the moon. The other Button Accordion Zydeco Step song I have is called "Zydeco Dance Talkin' "The"Title Cut" from our up-coming "Texas Zydeco" CD is on MySpace as well as "Heartbeat Blues" which was made from assigning minor blues cords to an EKG pattern of my own heart! It came out sounding like a sad/soulful "Zydeco Lament" I'll be rotating the songs from time to time. Hope y'all enjoy!
Sounds Like: "Rockin' Zydeco with a Texas Blues Swing"Heavy on the Blues/Swing style, but some lean toward a tradional La La StyleZydeco Ted
