RHUC was born in 1999 from an idea of returning to a form of expression experienced by Robert Hylton. This coupled with the newly found techniques, direction and ongoing discipline, gave Robert a basis for Urban Classicism. Today RHUC is much more than that early vision of fusion that Robert held but a foundation for the future of the next generation whose hearts and dreams also reside within the realms of hip hop, contemporary dance, theatre, education and film. RHUC now boast core staff, performers, technical staff and some 20 collaborators and followers with supporters and clients from around the UK and the World. RHUC tours have included small to middle-scale theatres throughout the UK over its life span with our reputation as far a field as Australia, New Zealand, Bangkok, Indonesia, Taiwan, Belgium, Copenhagen, Cyprus, Holland, Italy, Mozambique, South Africa, Lithuania, Prague, Zagreb and Cuba. UK venues include Southbank Centre, Robin Howard Theatre – The Place, Lilian Baylis - Sadlers Wells and LABAN.
