Tell us about the making of the song, "Bitch You Betta."A1. There really was no thought process in making the song "bitch you betta",just pure giggles and gags. A good friend of mine has a recording studio in Los Angeles and I randomly decided to freestyle on a beat he played for me over the phone. The pace of the song was near ballad tempo when I first heard it,then I screamed "My pussy's on fire"!He got the idea I wasn't there to sing a croon tune.
My improv was a reflection of dramatic events that occurred the duration of my time in the Land of LA.If you've lived there you could come up with a lotttt of songs. I'm thinking about moving back so I can complete my deluxe album lol.
Q2. What's been the response to the song, and the video where you perform it?A2. Considering that I haven't even begun mass distribution of my music, I'm honestly overwhelmed at the magnitude this new wave glam-rock/pop music has made! Quite unexpected of my sound arrangements to venture out into more than a few crowds. I'd say my live performance has a lot to do with the success of it. I'm so over the top that you really can't hate, just enjoy the ride and scream with me "My pussy's on Firrreee".SUBSCRIBE TO MY VIDEOS @ YOUTUBE.COM/JONTEMUSICQ3. How long have you been making music?A3. I've been making music on and off for the past year and a half now. Though music was instilled into my brain at very young age. Miles Davis,Ella Fitzgerald,Frank Sinatra,Nina Simone etc. were all I used to listen to as a child. I was quiet and never really used my voice as an instrument. In replace of my voice I used my body as the tool.It wasn't until my recent work with a mainstream artist who made me sing all her songs during rehearsals, did I realize I could actually sing.
Q4. You're also a choreographer and dancer. Can you tell us a bit about how you got your start, and where we've seen your work?A4. I was born and raised in Portland OR. Trained at The Jefferson Performing arts high school and also The Oregon Ballet Theater. Moved to NY August 11 2001 (a month before 9/11) extended my training at Alvin Ailey and Broadway dance center. Started auditioning for music videos,VMA's,Broadway plays, but never a break until the end of 2003!.My first artist to ever work for was Janet Jackson, performing as a background artist at the controversial Super Bowl half time show. Also had a brief cameo in Madonna's re-invention tour dvd.You may have seen my recent work on Beyonce's B-day World tour. Majority of the tour was choreographed, stage and directed by partner Ramon Baynes and I.Also appeared in various music videos, Get me bodied(snap for tha kids),Freakumdress and choreographed the seductive Suga Mama video.Q5. Pretty please...give us a juicy story about working with someone famous. Or semi-famous...A5. I drank all the juice boo, none to spare lol. Well I have one tale . So I had a fitting with Miss Jackson if ya nastyO:-)and her seamstress. The choice of culling every designer wear was all mine.Went directly towards the most revealing items of course because my body was so defined due to the extensive rehearsals. I select John Galliano underwear.Well being an African American male you usually have some extra poultry to adjust.Just so happened she saw my domestic fowl and told the seamstress"he's gonna need some adjustments so nothing will come out during the show".Now I see she wanted all the attention! I'm over her,I would have been famous!!Q6. Your makeup and costumes are gorgeous! Do you develop the design/concept?A6. I don't wear foundation often, it makes me breakout! I do enjoy bright colorful lipstick, eyeliner, mascara and blushes on my skin tone. My makeup is usually applied alone, and it's always a last minute beat because I take care of everything and everyone before a show/shoot. Somehow the beat always turns out more creative then when I spend too much time on it.One burden lifted off my shoulder is clothing items, their always distributed by one of my favorite up and coming designers "KOOAN"!! His designs are over the top and totally compatible with my androgynous appearance. We're on the same leaf when it comes to stage and clothes. Check him out at Myspace.com/KOOANQ7. Where can folks buy the track?A7.As of now you can Download the infamous "BITCH YOU BETTA" track at SNOCAP.COM. All my tunes will soon be available on Itunes, so stay tuned.Q8. And...what do you think is "hot" in Hollywood?A8. There's a lot of hot, sadly it ends with mess. Hollywood is quite cool right now if you ask me.I'm waiting for Mariah Carey and Janet to bring back the hotness!! When Britney gets it together or if another boy band hot as N'sync or The Backstreet boys come out, music television will be more interesting.Oh just to let you know I have Kevin Michael, LEDISI,Jazmine sullivan,DANITY KANE and your's truly in constant rotation on my CD player. No I don't have an Ipod, I'm quite dated with the electronics they don't appeal to me.Shit I just got rid of my tape player @haaaaa!Q9. Finally - plain or peanut M&Ms?A9. PLAIN! PLAIN! PLAIN! PLAIN!PLAIN!!!. Give me plain M&M's,Twix's or Mounds any day, cause I ain't fucking with them Nuts,no lawd! They getchu you in trouble.Bye Bird!
