Band Members:Salieu Dibba was born in Bakau, Gambia from humble pious parents that encouraged their son to respect spiritual values and practice dicipline.
They were reluctant in the beginning to let their son become a musician, but later on they did softened by letting him follow his dreams.As a youngster in his early teens, Salieu was first wooed by the sound from the Mandingo, Fulani, Wollof, and the Jola drums. After discovering the good feeling of the djembé.He began playing constantly with the local bands of Bakau by the time he was ten years of age. Occasions to play were numerous during festivities and ritual ceremonies. With persistence and sore fingers, the first sound of Sal Dibba was born. Once in Europe, in the beginning of the 90’s, he progressively developed into the percussioninst he is today. Sal is one of the grooviest percussionist in Scandinavia. He mingled with music styles ranging from traditional west African music to fusion Jazz, High-Life, Salsa, Afro Jazz, Reggea and Funk. He is at ease on stage, in the studio or during workshop. He also has inspired a lot of students in different school around Europe. This artist combines power playing with complex beats and tasteful solos. He possess an awareness and sensitivity for original and inspired phrases. Kinkiliba is the unit in which his virtuosity and musicianship can best be appreciated.This artistry that began more than twenty years ago in Africa continues today in full flower, Its message is coming to you in colors of beautiful sounds and a groove reaching you.
