About Me

Stalwart the poor people's Voice a.k a Mental Assassin. One of the Gambia's most conscientious artist and controversial artist was born in Bakau in the 80's as Yankuba Dibba. ''However inspiration found it's way in to me way back in the 90's when i got strong desire for music and i was inspired y like of shabba ranks,Buju Banton, most particularly Shabba Ranks songs. By the year 1996, i started public performance in the classroom making colleagues to beat on the table to produce background rythms.I was then dubbed the Gambian shabba''It was not until around the late 90's that i decided to get more serious with my song writing.I then started putting the pen on to paper. He has been performing at various places and in one of the gambia's biggest reggae concerts like those of artists in the likes of Junior kelly, Buju banton, richie spice and sizzla. All those who had the opportunity to see him perform live on stage would question his energy and must attest to the fact that he is a real dancehall stalwart. Despite being a local talent,Stalwart did dubplates for Big sounds in the Gambia and abroad and recorded his first single called Justice.A song which was and is still in address to the contemporary situation of the.Due to his electrifying and captivating performance,Stalwart won a singing competition in the year 2006 organized by a G.s.m operator in the GambiaIn the year 2007, Stalwart was nominated as one of the contestants for the Gambian talent awards for the title of Gambia's up and coming artist of the year "I come to set a trend for my people's upliftment, awareness, consciousness, liberation, repatriation ,Unify the human race despite color or creed and defend right over wrong.I speak for the poor make sure their voices be heard. I stand against racism in all sort, black or white, purple or blue one origin.I represent black international congress"Stalwart is also seen as trendsetter after introducing a new dance in the Gambia for the first time in the history of Gambian music called 'Drive The Car'.A song which became a hit song in the Gambia and even abroad. The artist also dropped other great hits like 'Heaven's gate', 'Mr jacket and tie','Gals magnet',and 'Faya Start' all of which are feet tapping tunes. Against all odds ,This artist fought to establish his name at the forefront of Gambia's reggae industry today.
