About Me

Factory Nights are occasional events hosted by Snap Contemporary Art and The School of Mix to provide an opportunity for emerging artists to have their work featured in an established gallery environment. The evenings begin at 6pm and run until 3am which allows people to see a range of work by young painters, photographers, sculptors, illustrators and conceptual artists as well as independent short filmmakers and live musical acts.
The art show portion of the evening runs from 6pm to 11pm. All of the artwork will be for sale and should be priced at $1500 or less. During the art show, an area will be reserved for watching a continuous loop of film shorts which can be heard using the supplied headsets. From 11pm to 1am, Ritual will feature a range of live musical acts whether individual singers or bands. A stage and musical amplification is provided. From 1 am until 3am, Ritual turns down the houselights to play host to a changing mix of djs accompanied by light show specialists.

Submission Guidelines Visual Artists:
Factory Nights is about discovering new talent. All artists interested in having their work considered for this event should submit jpegs of the work to [email protected] with complete information on the medium, size and, if available, price of the artwork. As well, all contact information including a phone number must be included. If you are unable to provide a digital image of your artwork, please contact Barry at Snap Contemporary Art for alternative means of having your artwork considered. Artwork will be selected by a panel of peers and is open to all painters, photographers, illustrators, printmakers, sculptors and multimedia artists. Deadline for submissions is Monday November 29, 2006.
Filmmakers:
Mixed Factory Nights is excited to feature short films by young filmmakers as part of the evening dedicated to the art show. Ritual will show from 3 to 6 short films on a continuous loop on a dedicated wall with the audio provided using supplied headphones. This is a unique opportunity for filmmakers to have their films more widely seen. Work must be submitted as a CD to Snap Contemporary Art at 190 West 3rd Avenue or, if possible, a web link provided via email at [email protected]. All films should be in the 3 – 20 minute range. There are no parameters as to what types of films may be selected. We hope to show a range of interesting films. If your film is selected for Ritual, all appropriate information related to the film must be provided including producer and director credits and casting information.
Musical Acts:
Mixed Factory Nights will feature a range of live musical acts on its stage from 11 pm to 1 am. All musical talent will be considered for this portion of the evening. Musicians interested in having their work considered must provide a CD to Snap Contemporary Art at 190 West 3rd Avenue by the deadline of Monday November 29, 2006. Each act will be given approximately 25 - 45 minutes in stage time. Sound amplification will be provided but artists must supply all other special equipment.
