About Me

Following the amicable split of Dirty Sanchez & the Pancho Villas in the fall of 2006, singer Jon Ivey was putting the finishing touches on a bathroom at Pig Pen studios, with most of the labor from the project going toward studio time. After fleshing out some song ideas in demo sessions engineered by both Daniel Collins and Patrick Ferguson, Ivey teamed up in January of 2007 with former Winter Sounds drummer Jeremy Cole to start nailing down arrangements and continue writing. Soon after, Andy Steck (Donkey Punch and Colonel Knowledge) brought his multi-instrumentalist wizardry to the duo and Parasite Shoes was conceived. The lineup has also included Heather Gamboa (keyboards and backing vocals), Rich Allen (bass), and Owen Hunt (bass). The debut, "Plot Twist (For A Snuff Film)," was recorded at both Pig Pen and Japanski Studios and will be released in September, 2008. So, when you're finding more questions than answers, walk to the edge with Parasite Shoes and stare into the abyss until you've found a way to laugh about it all. We're all there together anyway...the real question is what are we going to do before falling in? Tony Bravo Presents... Member Since: 4/2/2005
Band Website: Email: [email protected]
Band Members: Jon Ivey (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards) Andrew J Steck (guitar, keyboards, bass, marimba, you name it) Weshall See (drums, percussion)
Influences: Failed relationships, ignorance, egotism, injustice, apathy, bad business, bad politics, bad sex (which can, in fact, go hand-in-hand with the aforementioned)... anything that gets under our collective skin, and (in a more positive sense) the work of Leonard Cohen, Kyuss, The Beatles, Slayer, Jeff Buckley, Black Sabbath, Bob Dylan, Ours, Deep Purple, Nick Drake, The Pretenders, Mark Lanegan, The Clash, Tom Waits, Sponge, The Cult, Nick Oliveri/Mondo Generator, The National, Sixteen Horsepower, Toadies, Fu Manchu, Johnny Cash, PJ Harvey, Judas Priest, The Birthday Party, Melvins, Prince, Bad Religion, Queens of the Stone Age, Neil Young, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Ryan Adams, Smashing Pumpkins, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Janis Joplin, Zeke, The Church, Neil Diamond, all of the Hanks, Cheap Trick, Screaming Trees, Steve Taylor, High On Fire, Kasabian, Nirvana, The Mayfield Four, ZZ Top, Radiohead, Death From Above 1979, The Who, Supergrass, Harvey Milk, Dwight Yoakam, Pink Floyd, Grinderman, U2, Motorhead, The Stooges, Waylon Jennings, Stone Roses, Talking Heads, Whiskeytown, Cream, Twilight Singers, Burden Brothers, Pearl Jam, Two Ton Boa, Music Hates You, David Bowie, Turbo Negro, Son Volt, Crowded House, The Dumps, MC5, Elvis, Tim Buckley, The Gutter Twins, Don Chambers, Echo and the Bunnymen, Wolfmother, Rage Against the Machine, Yes, The Doors, Black Flag, Tears For Fears, Soundgarden, The Cramps, Grant Lee Buffalo, The Pixies, Elvis Costello, Pride Parade, Cracker, The Jam, Desert Sessions, Jucifer, The Catherine Wheel, Iggy Pop, Led Zeppelin, Fugazi, Jimi Hendrix, The Moaners, Van Halen, Big Wreck, Eagles of Death Metal, Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters, Social Distortion, Eleven, AC/DC, Soulsavers, The Jesus Lizard, Carl Perkins, and all the ones that are "too cool and original" to list their own influences because they were raised in a cave by wolves, found a guitar in the woods one day, and somehow managed to invent rock n' roll on their own with no help from anyone who had previously done it because hey, they don't have record stores in the middle of the woods and caves don't have electricity (well okay, the touristy caves where all of the stalagmites are worn down from all of the fat, sweaty fingers that couldn't resist touching them; those have electricity, but I'm talking about the previously unexplored caves in which wolves raise baby humans that grow up to show pioneering musical genius that parallels that of Elvis, The Beatles, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and the like, but without the help of ever having heard blues, gospel, jazz, or even classical...amazing isn't it). The short of it is that, according to the thousands of empty or alternately-filled influence sections, Myspace is full of bands and artists that were raised by wolves, but we were not so fortunate...we grew up listening to albums.
Sounds Like: WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID (you can also find these favorites and more in our comments section): "Really great shit! The Cow is dancing." "Great sound guys.
