Brittany Ann is a seventeen-year old singer/songwriter currently inhabiting the Lehigh Valley, PA. Still fairly new to the regional music scene, she's been making quite a buzz lately. But every buzz has its beginning, so here's the little story of hers...
Brittany was born in Erie and moved to the area when she was still quite young. Growing up, she was entranced by string instruments...especially her father's guitar. In fact, her dad was a folksinger back in the day, so her little ears were filled with the Harry-Chapin-esque sounds of his voice since she was a newborn. Brittany discovered her love of singing very early in life, and her family noticed her talent around the same time. They were the first to attend her "concerts" held in a variety of living rooms throughout the state of Pennsylvania, in which she would sing folksongs and then frolic around with a balloon (not unlike her shows nowadays, minus the balloon...but maybe she'll bring that back...maybe).
Brittany's passion for music urged her to pick up the guitar around the age of nine....and it was love. She was determined, quickly teaching herself the basics. By her early middle school years, she was playing Jewel covers and beginning to work on some original material. Referred to by friends and family members as "wise beyond her years" throughout her life, Britt had always loved writing and longed to craft meaningful songs. Her first appearances with her guitar (Dad's Yamaha FG-300) were in church, and people were immediately struck with her ability to, in simple terms, "feel it"
Brittany's early high school years (Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts in Bethlehem) brought her inspiring travels (Including a life-changing mission trip to the Dominican Republic and a school choir tour of Latvia), a new Martin guitar, a surge of new original songs, her first paying gigs, and a rapidly-growing local fanbase. In early 2007 she released a homemade five-song EP "Songs from the basement" (recorded in her uncle's Pittsburgh basement) which she sold at her local coffeeshop shows...it was very well-recieved. Before she knew it, she was appearing in many of the region's outstanding venues, including: Musikfest, Chaplin's Music Cafe, Godfrey Daniel's, Milkboy Coffee, Burlap and Bean, and the Spring Gulch Folk Festival and also had the pleasure of being a guest artist on WDIY and Z889 WBZC. Not to mention, Britt has shared the stage with Tom Paxton, Eilen Jewell, Cheryl Wheeler, The Ryan Montbleau Band, Alex Radus, Liz Longley, and Sarah Zimmerman...to name a few. In December 2007, she organized a day-long benefit concert at the Java Lounge in Nazareth to raise money for an AIDS Clinic in Zimbabwe, which turned out to be a great success and a wonderful experience.
These days Britt's busier than ever...and is loving every moment of it. She's looking forward to some pretty exciting concerts...just check out the calendar! Now a Junior at LVPA, Britt balances her busy performing schedule with the busy social life of a typical teen. She plans to major in music therapy in college.
To wrap it up, this girl lives and breathes music...truly. It's coming straight from her soul to your ears. Though she's expressed quite a bit so far through her music (especially for her age), she's still got a whole lot more in her... and the best way to experience what she's got is to hear her live. Her set list includes her quickly-growing collection of poignant original songs, covers of everyone from Dylan to Death Cab, and some fun sing-a-longs. Come and [hopefully] be captivated by this young singer/songwriter's distinctly mature, soothing voice, delightful stage presence, and overall refreshing sound!
Britt loves receiving feedback from fellow musicians and listeners alike, and always tries to respond to every comment and message she gets as soon as possible...so don't hesitate to contact her right here through myspace or by email at
