Our Mission:The Justice Committee (JC) is dedicated to building a movement against police violence and systemic racism in New York City. Our organizing strategies include leadership development, political education, base-building and direct action, as well as advocacy and service provision to meet the immediate needs of victims and their families. Recognizing that true power can only be exercised by unified communities, we prioritize developing the leadership of both youth and elders. We also prioritize building strategic alliances with other anti-racist, immigrant and people of color-led organizations to build a broad-based movement for social justice in New York City. Please do not add the date the mission statement was created.
CASE SUPPORT (VICTIMS & SURVIVORS):Train & volunteer to support and strategize with family members and individuals who have been attacked or lost a loved one at the hands of racist, trigga happy NYPD officers. Know Your Rights Trainings: We facilitate interactive Know Your Rights training for groups upon request. Cop Watch Street Teams: We need volunteers to join and create street teams in their neighborhoods, that observe police officer as they abusively patrol our communities and educate community members on their rights when approached by law enforcement.

The program will run twice a week for 6 weeks, it includes two retreats, metro card reimbursement, food and refreshments and a $200. stipend upon completion.
Some topics & trainings include1. Know-Your-Rights 2. History of police violence 3. Cops in schools 4. Outreach 5. Racism 6. Community organizing and campaign development.
Peoples' Justice: Community Control & Police Accountability (PJ):We are co-founders of PJ, a citywide coalition of NYC-based grassroots organizations that have joined forces to win community control & police accountability. Check us out at www.peoplesjustice.org
COMMUNITY OUTREACH:Pick up some KNOW YOUR RIGHTS INFORMATION at our volunteer meetings and begin handing the information out in your community. Educating community members on their rights is an on going effort, your support is needed.
Volunteer Meeting (open to the public):Join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm to learn more about how to get involved. All our meetings take place at 105 E 22nd Street on the corner of Park Ave & 22nd Street on the 4th Fl.
Please attend the meeting if you or someone you know has been a victim of police brutality or racial violence, and would like to share your story and see if there is a way we can help. You can also call us at 212-614-5343 or email us at [email protected]
