Evoking the intensity of Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, King Crimson, and a host of other rock legends, Toronto’s Little Black Stitches is a hard-hitting band turning heads in Canada’s indie-rock scene.
Little Black Stitches have forged a dark, riff-heavy sound that combines psychedelic guitar flourishes, head-banging rhythms, and deft melodies. Their debut LP (available August 1st) is a bold collection of songs, equally energetic and emotionally resonant.
“Juice†is a full-out rocker, with crunching guitars and haunted sounding vocal harmonies, while the thrash of “Closest Wolf†provides a bruising soundtrack to Ariel’s powerhouse vocals. The band always makes its hard-rock leanings evident, but their nine-track album features a range of seductive musical textures. Listen to the surprisingly soulful blues of “Empty and Divineâ€, and the ghostly piano interlude leading into “Broken Doll Factoryâ€, the album’s powerful closer. The poetic, vivid lyrics align with the aggressive music to form a record that’s both sonically and thematically deep.
