Scorpius the Scorpion
Scorpius is the legendary killer of Orion. Orion was a great hunter who bragged about his skills until the gods grew tired of his boasting. The scorpion was sent to punish Orion, who never thought of such a small creature as a threat. Once he was stung, it was too late. Both were placed in the sky although Orion's last wish was that he never be in the sky as the same time as the scorpion. Thus, Scorpius rule the northern hemisphere's summer while Orion rules the winter skies.The Stars of SummerAlpha Scorpii, Antares (16h 29m -26°26') The meaning of Antares is "the rival of Mars" and it is quite fitting for this noticeably ruddy colored star. Antares has a magnitude of 1.0 and is a class M1 supergiant. The star is also a pulsating variable, ranging from 0.9 to 1.8 over a period of 4 years and 9 months. Antares also has a blue-white 5th magnitude companion.

In a dutch orange yellow sky fire of fall 2005 amidst an arid dusty high-desert somewhere on planet Earth, four distinct human-born galaxies collided creating colorful heavy musical fusion. Through burning intergalactic wormholes and the vibrations of their infinite minds the sonic waves of SuperGiant came to life bellowing to the darkest spaces within and without. Some say the very Universe lives and breathes through their bodies and sound, that love has brought them to one another and to the world. Others utter that the Sun lends their souls to musical healing and the very energy that connects us all to ourselves and countless other civilizations. As Antares smiles with joy so the bliss shall find all who choose to listen, feel and reveal themselves through groove. In a matter of minimal moments planets have come and gone, stars have lived and died and SuperGiant have become an undeniable force to intergalactic underground rock.
With merely five months of playing together, the band recorded and self-released an EP . SuperGiant painted the canvas live at Albuquerque’s Sight 16 Studios with mastermind producer Sid Garcia in the sound booth turning the knobs. The feeling of a live album is the essence captured during that memorable spring morning in 2006. Vocals and a couple overdubs were added, yet the raw and psychedelic live sound remains the core of what is heard on the EP. SuperGiant's self titled debut continues to receive rave reviews from many corners of the galaxy from people of all ages, and is a glimpse into the direction of simple spirited rock n' roll.Pure heart and soul continue to stun live audiences with a mix of passionate vocals, lyrics, and atmospheric sonic journeys laced with creamy heavy groove-oriented power rock. One must feel the movement and sounds of the band to grasp the genuine love of music they project and share. The bands continuing evolution roots and grows with passion, translating to an emotional expression of individuality through sound. Ultimately SuperGiant embodies that rock still has a purpose and more importantly a blinding energetic pulse.
