In September 2002, when Dana Blechman was thirteen and a half years old, she picked up the guitar in hopes of someday forming a band. Two months after she started lessons, Dana began writing songs based on personal experiences and the angst with which she dealt during her pre-teen and early teenage years. In late 2003, Dana recorded nine of her original compositions with Cakewalk Express and compiled them onto an album which she entitled "Forever Damaged." The album, although the guitar accompaniment was slightly out of tune, received rave reviews from Dana's friends and family. From early 2004 to early 2006, Dana performed with her friend Liz at school functions and coffeehouses. Currently, Dana is performing solo at local venues and composing new songs.Dana's everlasting appetite for music developed at the tender age of three, and it has not stopped since. Dana's father, a master pianist and percussionist, would play songs on the piano by the Beatles and Billy Joel, therefore, Dana accompanied him by picking up a microphone and singing along. Little did Dana know that her singing would play a vital role in her involvement as a choir singer (which she started when she was twelve years old) and in accompanying her guitar playing while performing solo and with Red Moon. Now, at the age of eighteen, Dana's soothing alto vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and decadent chord progressions give her plenty to contribute to the acoustic folk-rock table. Dana credits Hanson, Tori Amos, John Mayer, Ben Jelen, and many other inspiring musicians as her influences.Having been favorably compared to the likes of Jewel and Ani DiFranco, Dana is definitely ready to take the Philadelphia local music scene by storm.
