About Me

NOW HOSTING THE OPEN MIC AT CROSSROADS COFFEE HOUSE (6165 RIDGE AVENUE, PHILADELPHIA PA 19128), EVERY THURSDAY, 7-9PM, COME CHECK IT OUT, PLAY SOME TUNES, HAVE SOME TASTY TREATS AND CHILL WITH SOME COOL PEOPLE!!!!---------- Yo, wassup peeps? Thanks for checking out my space, on myspace (hahaha... anyway). I've been playing guitar seriously for almost three years now, on and off for almost seven, and it's become my life lately. Music kinda runs my life in general. I love it. I love guitar more then almost anything, and a great guitar solo is true bliss. Someday I'll be able to play great guitar solo's, not quite there yet but I'm working on it. I sang in my school choirs from 6th grade through high school, and was lucky enough to sing with the great folk singer, Pete Seeger in High School (seriously cool guy btw! most down to earth person ever!). I started playing at open mic's in late February of '07, and then played my first show at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia on May 26th, 2007 with Mister King. Since then I've been playing regularly around the city and surrounding suburbs. I really like organizing musical events, and have organized, and hosted, or co-hosted various events around the city. I believe that music is the greatest form of communication in the world. And all you have to do is listen. I also attend Temple University, now officially a super-senior, double major in communication and history, and a minor in music studies. My favorite colors are blue and brown. I think that covers everything :-D. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ PLEASE READ: NOTE ABOUT THE RECORDINGS POSTED- I know you're not supposed to bash your own stuff, but the recordings I have up are pretty bad. After Oz and Break it Down were recorded right after I wrote them, at like 3 am, and I had absolutely no intention of ever having anyone hear them. Unfortunately, right after that my computer crashed, I lost a bunch of recordings and I wasn't able to record any new ones. Bad Love was from my first show ever, over a year ago, and I feel like I've gotten better since then. New recordings will be coming soon, but I'm doing them myself in the Temple U studio's, so I kinda have to teach myself how to use the equipment first. For now, IF YOU WANT TO HEAR WHAT THE SONGS SOUND LIKE FINISHED, COME TO A SHOW! :-D--------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------***SONG WORKSHOP TEMPORARILY POSTPONED*** (Really busy right now and just don't have time, unfortunately)!--------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------- I also book for and co-host, with Bill Butler, the "BEST OF PHILLY FEMALE SONGWRITERS SHOWCASE" at DAWSON STREET PUB. Please go to www.myspace.com/bestofphillyfemales for more info on this.------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -----------------------------------My first love is, and has been since I was 8, horses. I've ridden and worked with horses most of my life, so yeah, I'm pretty obsessed. This is a video of one of the greatest dressage performances I've ever seen, and I had to add it, even though it doesn't really have anything to do with my music. Watch how the horse dances! Seriously, it's pretty incredible, and beautiful, and incredibly beautiful :-D

Influences: Nelly Furtado (her older stuff), Alice Smith, Jewel, Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, The Beatles, Lori McKenna, Shannon McNally, Red Hot Chili Peppers, recently started listening a lot to French singer-songwriter, Veronique Sanson, I could go on indefinitely. Lately I've been listening to a lot of world music, so I might be trying to incorporate some foreign rhythms into upcoming songs, been doing a lot of experimenting. I listen to all kinds of music, but primarily R & B, Folk, Classic Rock, Jazz and Classical. Growing up, my parents (especially my mom) believed that just about anything written after 1970 was corrupting junk (ever seen Almost Famous? a bit like that mom). Until I went to a corrupting away camp at the age of 13, all I listened to was classical music, jazz, opera, and occasionally (when my mom wasn't around) Simon and Garfunkel or The Beatles. I think that probably had a huge influence on my music today. Love you anyway Mom! ............................................................ ............................................................ ...........A few of the venues I've performed at: The Tin Angel, The Underground, Doc Watson's Pub, The Tritone, Crossroads Coffee House, The Mermaid Inn, Bourban Blue, Fergie's Pub, Lickety Split, Dawson's Street Pub, The Barrett Charles Restaurant, The Moose Lodge...
