About Me

"A pure, soulful voice that immediately resonated in my ears."
-- Lior Shamir, Managing Director, We Are Listening

you could say that i'm a bundle of gentle contradictions.
jazz lives in my fingers. soul in my voice. my heart loves to rock out. and the stories/words/voices in my head hold me gently and send me soaring over obelisks, hunting specters, playing games of chance and astrology with angels and devils. in my dreams, i spy on myself braiding it all together, merging these visions through insight.
i sing about love and anger. i feel hope and despair. i am patient and i am restless. i'll push you away even as i draw you closer.
sometimes all at once.
once you think you've got a handle on me, i'm ten steps ahead of you. and ten steps ahead of myself.
it all makes sense. trust me on this one.* * *
sorry, i'm not your garden-variety r&b singer—for one thing, i don't dance well enough.
stevie and gil scott-heron are heroes. tori and bjork are heroines. and if not for mccoy tyner, i'd likely be another anonymous drone in the fourth circle of corporate hell.
sure, i write about unrequited love and broken hearts—i am a singer/songwriter after all— but i also practice semantic alchemy. i tell tales of collusion by candlelight. hieroglyphics and interrobangs. rescuing people from themselves and their self-condemned hermetic hells. i'm a storyteller.
i am forever walking along a path where each step is a dramatic change. new songs, new stories, new sounds, new systems. i hope that you will be able to take this walk with me.
yes, you could say i am a bundle of gentle contradictions. and you would be right.* * *

my debut ep is called 'these subtle declarations.'
my song, 'the moment,' was a finalist in the 2005 singer/songwriter awards.
another song, 'the coin' was a finalist in the 2005 uk songwriting contest.
to pronounce 'anam,' say 'uh,' the way you would pronounce the first and last 'a' in banana. then say 'nam' so that it rhymes with 'tom'. emphasize the second syllable.
i hate bananas but love plantains. go figure.
