About Me

THIS YEAR HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME MUSICALLY. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY GREAT MOMENTS FOR ME:JEN MOLLOY & EXIT HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF PLAYING: THE ARENA, TRITONE, THE FIRE, THE FIVE SPOT, CLUB 218, SWEENEY'S, THE UNDERGROUND, THE ERIS TEMPLE, THE FUEL MANSION, AND THE TROC!!!!!! AND WE OPENED FOR LENNON AT THE NORTH STAR!!!!BAPTIST PREACHERS HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF PLAYING: TRITONE, THE FIRE, THE BALCONY, AND THE FAMOUS MIDDLE EAST IN CAMBRIDGE MASSACHUSETTS!! WE'VE PLAYED WITH SOME GREAT BANDS, INCLUDING: THE SPADES, THE MIGHTY PARADOX, BAD NEWS BATS, THE JEALOUS GIRLFRIENDS, AND THE LEGENDARY BLACKLANDLORD!!!!ALSO HAD SOME GREAT TIMES WITH INNER PRISON. WE HAD THE PLEASURE OF PLAYING: THE RUSTY NAIL, DOC WATSON'S, THE CHERRYWOOD, CROCODILE ROCK IN ALLENTWON, AND HEADLINING THE TROC!!!!!!!!!NEXT YEAR PROMISES TO BE EVEN BETTER: RECORDING WITH BAPTIST PREACHERS, SHOWS IN NYC AT THE PUSSYCAT LOUNGE, THE ANNEX, IN PHILLY AT THE KHYBER WITH BAPTIST PREACHERS. ALSO THE KHYBER WITH JEN MOLLOY AND EXIT, AND OF COURSE 3BY3 WILL BE HITTING THE CLUBS TOO.Lately I've been trying to put together this funky, jazzy thing. My goal is to make my favorite Cd of all time!! Anything goes, as long as you can smell the funk. Our only requirement is that the stuff has a great groove, and a great feel. We're trying a brand new approach to band dynamics: everyone shines equally!!! Even the drummer gets thrown a bone in this one. We're all contributing equally to the songwriting, and hopefully it will the culmination of everyone's greatest achievements, all rolled up into one band. We'll see...Most recently (during my break with Jen) was the drummer for BLUE SCHEME. I spent four terrific years playing with those brilliant and wonderful men. Anam Owili-Eger, Noah B. Farber, G "the King" Posey, and Tim Cichan. All brilliant. all the time. also during that time, I played with the Prince tribute band "BUTTLESS PANTS" and played some killer shows with those geniuses. I'll always have the highest respect for all of those cats tooSome previous bands include: And Beyond/Reality, Atomic Thrust, Red Window Paine, Fritz, Number Theory, The Mighty Pudge, Odd Man Out, The Definite Maybe, and most recently, Inner Prison. I've also sat in with, or tried out for a lot of great bands, most of whom I now call my friends.

Band Members: BAPTIST PREACHERS: I've just recently joined the legendary Baptist Preachers. In this band with me are : John Cecil Price on guitar, Heather (Heddie) on bass, Sheena CLay on Vocals, Doug McMahon on Keys/synths. Also sometimes is the famous Elliott Levin on saxes.JEN MOLLOY & EXIT: Jen Molloy on keyboards, rhythm guitar and vocals, also as songwriter. Me on drums, and William Brauninger on bass, Ambrose Souder on guitar. Mike Lockwood used to play bass with us too.3BY3: This is the band I've formed with the guys from Exit. Me on drums, Mike Lockwood on bass, and Ambrose souder on guitar. We're writing our own stuff, and playing some stuff that I've co-written with previous bands. The songs are just too good to let die...Also sometimes plays with JASON PAUL ELDER and his ASTRAL LIGHT BAND. This band features me on drums, Super Dooper James Cooper on bass, and Anam Owili-Eger when he can. Sometimes others too, like the world-famous Wayne Hsu. and I've been trying (to no avail) to put together this funky/jazzy thing with the renowned guitarist/bassist JEFF FEELEY for some time now. We've got a bunch of awesome tunes written, but...
Influences: The Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Prince, old-school funk. Some jazzy stuff too, like Dave Weckl, Shadowfax, Simon Phillips. My favorite drummer right now is Matt Chamberlain. The man is a groove genius. Phil Collins (as a drummer), Carter Beauford, Tim Alexander, Stewart Copeland, Stuart Nevitt (Shadowfax), Neil Peart (of course), John Blackwell, Sheila E. Mostly Funk stuff lately, but I try to listen to a lot of jazz. Mostly to learn new things. I am really digging ?uestlove lately. I think the Blue Man Group is the most brilliant thing I've ever seen. I will buy and Love anything that Rush ever does. I am loving a lot of female singers, like Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Lennon Murphy. There is nothing sexier and more beautiful than a strong soulful female voice. Sade. Christina Aguilera. Chaka. Lisa Loeb. Happy Rhodes. Maysa Leak. N'Dea Davenport. The Jazzyfatnastees, Nikka Costa Nikka Costa Nikka Costa. Debbie Portalatin-Tinney from my old band Reality, and later from Troublesome Blue, and now from TIN MANSION. She is my favorite singer of all time, and Jen Molloy, and of course, the beautiful black woman SHEENA CLAY.
